Discount coupons for Riverhead aquarium???
I saw them at Broadway diner in hicksville right next to the cash register.
That aquarium is a major rip off IMO. It's like two big fish tanks. We were in an out in an hour.

That aquarium is a major rip off IMO. It's like two big fish tanks. We were in an out in an hour.
I think it's very expensive if you don't have a membership, but there is much more than two tanks inside. There are animals outside, the stingrays outside, and the touch pond area, along with the butterflies and birds, and the Sea Lion show. Much more than an hours worth of stuff to do!

Honestly, I thought it was pretty impressive. We spent a few hours there. It's one of the nicest aquariums. I love the butterfly area & the touch tanks (and the fact that you can feed the animals). The bird area was very nice & we got some beautiful birds to sit on my 2 & 4 year old's arms. The sea lion show was very cute. They had a "nature cruise" that you could go on (additional cost) & they even had a snorkeling area set up outdoors for kids that were older (additional cost). My kids also wanted to do the fossil dig outdoors.
With all the "new" stuff there, I can't say I've seen any aquariums that were much better.
My major gripe was the parking.
I found a coupon on their webpage when we went. It wasn't much... but it helped.

I thought for the price the parking situation sucked, and the "extras" (with the exception of the shark dive) should have been included. It was also very crowded and very hot.
I remember going to the NY aquarium in coney island as a kid and that was way better than this one. I understand that it had some major damage from Sandy though.
I'm not a bird person at all so we didn't go to that part. I'm not really a fish person either, to be honest, but my husband loves them so I wanted to go for my son. But I was disappointed with how much we paid and didn't think it was worth the value.
JMO of course. I do think everyone should visit and make their own opinion. It's close enough and nice for a day trip if you have a coupon :)

My cousin got them for $16 each at her library, I'm pretty sure it was the Huntington library but others may have also.
