Pacifier at 6 months old
DD is not consistent with the pacificer. Never used it when awake and occasionally uses it to sleep. Some nights she will need it to go to sleep other nights she falls asleep without it. I never go in during the night to put it back in so if she wakes up she doesnt need it to fall asleep. Occasionally she will need it for a nap in the crib.
Id like to get rid of it entirely. I think it would stop the random wake ups during nap time, if thats what she is looking for and eliminate the hassle of wondering if she needs it at all..
Any tips?

Pacifier at 6 months old
following.. my lo is 4 months old and doesn't use the paci a ton but does use it to sleep most of the time and does often wake up MOTN bc she dropped the paci .. I am wondering myself if I should do away with the paci all together and if she would still go to sleep just as easily without it but I am afraid if I do, she will become a thumb sucker like my older DD (who never took to the paci) .

I would just take it away cold turkey. Babies adjust pretty quickly (though the first day or two might not be fun).

Exactly! We took them away at 7.5 mo b/c they were waking for them and couldn't find them. It took 2-3 days but they were fine. Now at 22 mo, I'm glad I took them away back then.

DD was the same way with it. I took it away at 6 months or so (maybe earlier) and she didn't miss it at all.

This
I took it at 5-6 months. The first few nights when I was putting him to sleep he would suck at the air! I felt terrible. But it was the best thing we could do to get rid of it early, and have him STTN without dropping it etc.

I'd take it away now - cold turkey! As someone who has a DD who is almost 3 and is completely attached to her binky I wish I never gave it to her!! I'm so dreading taking it away.
