Rare650, Blackstone's or Insignia? UPDATE

I'm taking DH out for his 40th birthday this Saturday and since he opted out of a party I don't mind spending alot of $ on a dinner. I know these restaurants are right up his alley, but I'm wondering if one is better than the others. I want something that will also be somewhat romantic since we don't get out much since having a baby.

Any opinions? TIA!

UPDATE: we went to Blackstones and holy cr@p that was expensive!!! DH loved it and really that's all that mattered to me, but my one complaint is that we both ordered our steaks medium and mine was med rare and his was med well. I def expected a place of that caliber to get that right. I just cannot imagine ever spending that much money on dinner unless it's a super special occasion.

I have only been to Rare650 and the food is excellent! It can def be a bit of a scene there but food is good. However it is super $$ I only go for a special occasion like anniversary and when I ran the NYC marathon LOL

Someone at work just suggested Capital Grille by the Roosevelt Field Mall. Anyone been there?

I have been to Blackstone's and Insignia. I would not describe either of them as romantic because they are both loud restaurants. That being said, I like both of them a lot. I would go to Insignia over Blackstone because I liked the food, drinks and atmosphere there better. I have not been to Capital Grille but I have heard it was really good.

Captial Grille is excellent. -

Blackstones I wasn't really overly impressed with. It was not BAD, but way overprices for what it was IMO. I haven't tried the others yet.

Thanks for all the feedback! We never go to expensive restaurants so I just wanted to make sure the food/experience was worth the money. And since it's DH's 40th I wanted him to feel like it was a big deal.

I loved the good at Blackstone's but it was a huge scene, esp near the bar and way too loud to have a convo. I hated that about it.

If you want a steakhouse and you're not set on one of these three what about Teller's?

I agree on tellers! We love Blackstones, but if you are looking for romantic, Tellers is fantastic. Prime is also nice this time of year being on the water.

DH took me there for my birthday. I loved it! But we always try to take each other to a new place. Also love Prime, but we went there for our anniversary. I'm think we'll go with Blackstones this time. It's the closest to where we live.

I like Blackstone's better than insignia, but I like George Martin's in Great River better than both. The food is outrageous.

Tell the hostess when you make the res it's for a special occasion. The restaurant in the main area tends to be quite loud with groups of men after work dinners and on the weekends with groups of couples. Ask for the side room by the fireplace. The main section gets loud.

I think if you don't go on a Thursday night you will be ok with the bar noise, Thursday is cougar night at all of these steakhouses(says the ex cougar lol)
