It didn't work
The dr called this morning. Our one little egg didn't fertilize properly. He doesn't think there's any point in trying again. I am devastated.

Re: It didn't work
I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am to hear this. Was this your first IVF? Did you have lots of follies or were on a high dose of meds?
It's truly amazing how so many have it so easy. Yet here we are stuck heartbreak after heartbreak.
My only advice....DONT GIVE UP! This means nothing.

It was our 2nd IVF. I only had 5 follies. I was on a high dose of stims because I was a poor responder last time. The dr agrees that it doesn't make sense to keep trying. We'llnever get a better result. So this means I'll never have a child that is biologically mine.

I'm so sorry, however I would not give up just because this RE said it's impossible. I would definitely seek out other opinions.

He could be totally right, but there are so many fertility doctors out there. I would get another opinion before you give up completely.

I'm so sorry :( why is he saying that?! Your first Ivf was a chemical...it wasn't a total bust (though clearly not outcome we desire).
I would absolutely get a second opinion. Maybe the answer will be the same, maybe it won't.

I'm so sorry. I agree with others there is a way. Don't give up. It took me 4 doctors till I found the one that helped me get pregnant, and 5 ivfs. Good luck!

I would Def get a second opinion. I'm a poor responder also but my dr is not giving up on me an all you need is one. Quality over quantity!!!!

I am so sorry to hear this news. I agree with all previous posters -- please please please get a 2nd opinion. Heck, get a 3rd and a 4th opinion -- visit as many RE's as you need until you find one that you are comfortable with who will work tirelessly for you until you have a child! Sending you lots of love and hugs today......

I'm so sorry. I've been in your shoes. I'd really encourage you to see someone else. Tweaking meds and dosages can change results markedly.

Re: It didn't work
There are not many IVF Drs with knowledge of endo out there unfortunately. I consulted with them all (practically) and only SIRM seemed a bit knowledgable on the correct way to stim me. Unfortunately it seems like your Dr had the right idea to suppress first which is key to lowering your body's inflammation levels but that can compromise your egg production, especially if you are a low responder to begin with. My last IVF cycle was similar to yours medicine wise and I only yielded one egg that did not fertilize either. It's so devastating and I know how you feel :( it's the worst, the only good thing that came from it was that it suppressed me so much that the following cycle I produced a healthy egg through a normal ovulation (usually my FSH and estrogen are sky high) and I am by every miracle in the world pregnant. No one can believe it but me and my Dr spoke about it and he believes it is very difficult to do IVF on girls who have stage 4 endo plus DOR bc the IVF meds are contradicting both diseases. My ovaries could not function from IVF yet I did have chemicals from IUIs so I COULD get pregnant.. It's just finding that balance between regulating the hormone levels and lowering your inflammation levels. The truth- and my Dr who is brilliant admitted- the human body can not be totally predicted. No one has the perfect answer as to why some things work and why others don't. I would recommend you trying naturally this next cycle and research the endo groups and studies they have out there. You are not alone- many of us know what a debilitating disease this is and we know we are not working with many eggs but you still have some good ones in there, even at 39. All because you responded poorly to IVF, does not mean you are a lost cause. Keep your faith and don't give up! Pray to St. Jude! I will put in a novena for you today. Hang in there and FM if you need to talk.

It didn't work
I'm so sorry. I would 100% get a second opinion. Getting a second opinion and going to a new RE was the best thing I ever did. I had to do tons of research on my own to try to figure out what my issue was. There are other options out there so there are ways that you will be a mom. The path to motherhood for some of us is brutal. So so sorry.

It didn't work
I'm so sorry. I would definitely look into a second opinion. My dh's urologist more or less said we'd need donor sperm to get pregnant. We were able to get pregnant using his sperm at a different clinic.

It didn't work
Please, don't give up! Please, it's not impossible. My friends from this board have been through this, worse, and all imaginable. There is always an answer and a way. Yes, you should cry, be angry and devastated right now. Get it out, because when you find the right Dr. who won't give up on you, you're going to finally bring that baby home. Someone suggested FM'ing Pennycat. Definitely!

Re: It didn't work
I'm so so sorry. Don't give up hope even if this one dr is giving up on you. Miracles happen all the time and I hope you're one!
I had told you a story about someone I used to work with that did 5 Ivfs, all bfn except one ended in mc. Dr told her there was no way she would get preg with her own eggs. So she got an egg donor and Ivf 6 she got preg with twins. Well 6 months after she delivered she got preg....naturally...with her own eggs and carried full term.
Sometimes science doesn't know all.
