Pro-Vbac OBGYN in Nassau
Hi All,
I'm new to LI and pregnant with #2. A VBAC is very important to me and I want to find a doctor that's going to be supportive of my decision. Have any of you had good experiences with an OBGYN that was supportive of your decision for a VBAC (preferably close to the nassau/queens border)? I have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Rifkin, but don't really know how supportive he will be as I haven't met him yet and haven't read anything one way or the other about him.
TIA!

I've heard great things about Davidson! I'm assuming you had a successful VBAC? Congratulations!

I see Dr. Scarantino in Westbury (Woman's Health Pavillion). They also have offices in Queens. He is open and supportive of whatever I decide/what is best given my situation when it comes time to deliver.

I see Dr Gilbert at North Shor OB/Gyn in great neck. She is wonderful, and there are many doctors in that practice too. She would have allowed me to Vbac if I wanted to.

Did you look into any doctors or midwives at NUMC? It's a very VBAC friendly hospital and they're renovating the whole maternity area. They just have to do the post partum rooms now. No recommendations because my OB doesn't deliver there, but it's something to look at.

Re: Pro-Vbac OBGYN in Nassau
Thanks! I actually spoke with an amazing doula who is helping me with my search. She mentioned some great midwives and NUMC as well. I've also heard really great things about Dr. Jacobs who is affiliated with NSUH, but will do everything in her power to help you have a successful VBAC. She has the lowest c-section rate and highest VBAC rate that I could find so far on LI and doulas all recommend her. I might meet with her next week. I'm not opposed to the midwife thing, but just nervous about not having a relationship with a doctor at all and then possibly having to have an emergency c-section with a stranger. I haven't completely ruled it out though. Thanks for the suggestions!

Great Neck OBGYN is supportive of VBACS. They have several Doctors (Rikfkin, Kaufman, Sadaty & Santoyo). I love Rifkin and Kaufman. They deliver at NSUH & LIJ & are located right on Northern Blvd. I believe it also depends on why you had to have a C-Section in the first place. I am having my first child & C-section next Sunday because baby is breech and Dr said I can absolutely try for a Vbac & encourages it next time pending he is not breech of course.
