Extended breast feeding moms - questions
I cannot believe I have nursed my dd for two years, I never ever thought id be that mom but it's been so easy for us and while my dd is a great sleeper and sleeps a lot she has gone through many phases of waking up in the night and nursing her for a few minutes puts her back down.
Anyway I think it's time to stop. She nurses only before bed and for literally one minute in each side. Barely anything. Also she's not super attached to nursing. She was more when it was a source of food and we was hungry but she doesn't even have a name for it and wouldn't care if I laid her down without it.
So my question is what happened to your body once you stopped fully? Should I expect no change bc she's barely nursing? My boobs are still a lot bigger than they were about a full size larger but they're never engorged like they used to be in the early days. Also I've heard some people gain and some lose weight?

Re: Extended breast feeding moms - questions
I cant say i BF that long (8mo) with my first but when it was time to wean because she was just" snacking" I called it or comfort nursing I weaned her off. I never really had any discomfort or engorgement and I didnt pump. It took her a few days but she was fine it was probably more me that missed it than her. After a while my BF breasts did unfortunately loose their fullness and that was that until my second pregnancy. I didnt gain any weight or lose just maintained the same.
Good luck to you, congrats for BF that long

Re: Extended breast feeding moms - questions
We finally weaned at 27.5 mo. As he nursed less and less my boobs shrunk and deflated, they were smaller than pre-baby when all was said and done. After weaning I lost the last 5-6 lbs of baby weight.

Also BF for 2 yrs and he would barely nurse by that point. Mostly just a minute or two to fall asleep at night and for comfort if he got hurt. I didn't get engorged when I stopped completely but they definitely deflated after the fact. As far as weight, I don't think I gained or lost really by that point. Kudos for making it this far! Bittersweet isn't it?
