approaching 40 and noticing how hard it is
To keep weight off! I exercise and try to stay active (walking, weights, jogging, pilates) to stay fit plus I generally eat my fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean protein. However I have to watch everything that I eat now and it sucks. I don't want to live my life not enjoying certain foods. In the last 1-2 years I'm noticing this and I will be 40 next year. I used to work out but eat what I wanted.
A woman I work with is in her 60s looks incredible and told me she basically ignores her hunger to stay slim. I hope it doesn't come to that!

Re: approaching 40 and noticing how hard it is
I just turned 30 and I've noticed a big difference already. UGH. I can't imagine. I was less than 90 lbs when I hit puberty. I've gained a steady 2 lbs per year since then. That means if I keep this up I'd be 20 lbs heavier by 40. This is just unacceptable LOL. Some years I really work out hard and eat healthy but no matter what my life average is 2 lbs per year. I don't know how to be healthier without sacrificing more than I am willing...

I will be 42 in a month and had a baby last year!!! getting the weight off now is the hardest EVER. It also took me longer to recover from my pregnancy and I also get tired more often mid day. Its amazing what a few yr and or baby can do to your body's chemistry. Dont give up or get discouraged you may have to tweak your diet to accommodate your "old age" .lol just kidding...just another joy of getting older.

Re: approaching 40 and noticing how hard it is
I completely feel your pain! In the past few years especially, I have really been struggling with my weight. Add to that that I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and it just feels like a losing battle. And like you, I'm not sure how far I'm willing to go and if I'm willing to drastically change my eating. I eat pretty well already, though I don't completely shy away from things it love that aren't great. I really feel like I would have to live on lettuce to be at my ideal weight.

I am 37 and it is much harder. I wok out reguarly and eat healthy. I had a baby almost 2 years ago and although I lost the weight within 4 months your body is never the same. At least mine isnt. I am trying to just embrace it. There is no way I could ignore hunger LOL

Re: approaching 40 and noticing how hard it is
This for me happened at 30. I have to work so hard to not gain weight. That being said I am up and down 5 lbs all the time. So if I am up the 5 I really watch what I eat until I lose it again. Luckily I work out about 3-4 times a week otherwise I would be much worse off!

yes, you're absolutely right about this. Turning 40 this month. I've just started watching what I eat and exercising, it's harder to lose the weight now than in my 30's. I guess it's just one of those things where we have to be a little more mindful of what we eat. I know that's really difficult at least for me. I love food.

Re: approaching 40 and noticing how hard it is
Thanks everyone glad I'm not alone! Today sept 1 is my New Years resolution! I ate and drank too much this summer and didn't workout consistently enough. I had to buy one clothes size bigger last week and that's scary!! Next year it could be 2 sizes if I don't change something!
