Anyone have issues with a 21 day wait for pre-determination from insurance company delaying cycle?
I want to start my cycle next week -cd3 would probably be Mon. Dh spoke with Jessica at SIRM today and they did not seem on top of things. She didnt know whether my treatment plan had been submitted to insurance. (United Healthcare Choice Plus). Apparently this gets done through the Las Vegas office now. I don't think that was the case when I used them 3 years ago? Anyhow, my insur will probably only cover the autoimmune stuff- prednisone and intralipids. The frozen embryo transfer, ovidrel and progesterone/estrogen suppositories would all be out of pocket. I really really don't want to wait another month. Any experience with this or advice how to speed thing up with insurance??

I have UHC choice plus too and a few times before starting previous cycles my RE billing office (when I was using NSUH) would contact to find out my coverage remaining and UHC would request an audit. I have an appointment tonight for a consult and sent a message through myUhc.com inquiring my remaining IF coverage and they responded right away. Apparently after DD they did an audit to see what was left. When I spoke to the nurse case manager the other day(Reproductive Resources) she said I had used all of it. That's when I reached out to UHC and called to confirm and I did not use all of it. Keep in mind it's what they UHC pays out not what is billed.
I suggest that you call because after your delivery they probably ran an audit so they should have that info.

I called my insurance directly & waited on the phone.
Got same day approval.
I have Aetna (but everything is quiet different than a few years ago).

21 day wait approval sounds strange. Aetna has a 48 hour turnaround for approvals, but you can usually get it in just a few hours. Who can wait 3 weeks for approval? That would mean only being about to try every other cycle.

I know, right? It's so crazy! It seems to be specific to DH's employer

I spoke with the medical secretary at SIRM today and she requested an urgent pre-determination and she said she hopes to hear back tomorrow!! Praying!
