gift for serious runner
Going to a bday party for a friend. He is a serious.runner. was thinking of a gift card to someplace like modell's or d!ck's. Or does anyone have another suggestion?

Gift cards are great and if those stores are most convenient for you and him, I'm sure he can find stuff there. They aren't really running specific stores though so might not carry the gear he usually uses.
I might do a gift card at a specialized running store on LI such as Runner's Edge, Super Runner's Shop, or an online store like runningwarehouse.com. Those would probably be most useful.

D!cks has the best variety of running gear IMO, so if you're buying a gc, I'd go there.
Some gift ideas:
- calf compressions (good ones will be $40-$50)
- arm warmers ($25-$30ish)
- cold gear shirt ($50 - $60. I like Nike the best but Under Armour makes a decent one too.)
