Marathon

Has anyone run a marathon without doing any training?

Marathon

I would never recommend doing that. Running a marathon puts a lot of stress on the body and its difficult even with proper training. It really puts the human body to it's limit. You're muscles wouldn't be accustomed to it and puts tremendous strain on them. Plus you have to build endurance as well. Not to mention injury. Not training at all doesn't prepare your body the way it should. I could never.

Re: Marathon

Yea, that's not a good idea. I know of a few people that didn't train properly (though they still had some training) and tried to run a full marathon and either had to pull out half way or had serious injuries as a result.

I'm in the height of my training for NYC and can't imagine not properly training for this race.

Re: Marathon

I could barely finish one of my marathons with proper training! So yeah, I can't see how you could do it, unless maybe you're an athlete in another sport or you walk to whole thing.

Re: Marathon

I should have mentioned I am an athlete and pretty fit, I just haven't done any long mileage running in 3 years. I am not looking to break any personal time records, I have run a marathon (back in 2011) but I had trained for that one. I actually loved the race part but hated the training, hence my question...
