Need some info on Temple etiquette
Hi Ladies,
It's been a long time but I thought this might be a good place to ask the question. I am Catholic and DH is Jewish. We decided to raise our daughter Jewish and this week he wants to take her to temple for Rosh Hashanah services.
The problem is she's almost 11 months old and all she wants to do is be on the move. I have no idea how I'd keep her still for 2+ hours. Even the best toys only hold her so long and most of those light up and make noise so those are no good.
It seems really important to DH to go so I'm trying to figure out how to do this and I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I always said I'd never bring my child to church before they were old enough to sit still and pay attention so I don't think it's a good idea but before I say no to going I was hoping for some more information.

Need some info on Temple etiquette
Kids that young aren't in services. Most temples offer child care during services or I would get a babysitter.

I'm Jewish and I want DD to attend services at some point... but that is too young.

Thank you! I thought it was just me! I just could not figure out how an 11 month old could go to a two hour service. It seemed totally unrealistic.

Most temples have a tot service and offer babysitting.
I would bring her in the main service to hear the shofar.

I know most temples have children or family services. They're usually free to non members too. It's focus is for the kids so very casual, songs, cute stories, etc. I remember last year they gave out little plastic shofars for the kids at the end. They loved it and kids were blowing it the entire time. We've been taking the boys to the children services since they were babies and the music keeps their attention. I wouldn't take them to regular services. No way my kids would sit through that.

We take our 2 and 3.5 year old to the tot service which is 45 minutes and completely interactive. Kids move around, sing, dance, cry whatever. Most temples have this kind of service for the holidays.
