OB Co-Pays? How does this work?
So tomorrow is my first OB appointment (YAY!) I'm right around the 9 week mark and have already had 2 sono's at the RE office that each had $20 co-pays. I just got a reminder call to confirm the OB appointment -- bring my photo ID, insurance card, and $40 co-payment. Anyone know why the co-payment is $40 and not the usual $20? Also, will I have to pay a co-pay for every OB visit? I'm a teacher and have Empire NYSHIP. Thanks, ladies!

OB Co-Pays? How does this work?
Probably because they will be doing their own sono in the office along with the office visit - hence the double copay.
Call NYSHIP and double check. I have united health (not nyship) and once it was established as pregnancy my copays went away and what I paid was reimbursed to me. Every plan is different though.

OB Co-Pays? How does this work?
I have empire nyship and you only have a copay when you have an ultrasound. I think the first appointment you have a regular copay too like pp said since it's not yet established that you're pregnant. I think the only other copays you'll have are when you get bloodwork.

I only paid copays for my NTscan and Anatomy scans through Madonna. My OB has never collected a copay for any other appts. I wonder why?

I never had to pay any copays when I was pregnant. My pregnancy was 100% covered at the OB. I did have to pay for the hospital stay. Every insurance policy is different.

lillies, with ghi we only have to pay 2 dollars every visit for the urine. they cover everything and the only copays we need to pay are for the ultrasounds with madonna.

I only paid copay's when I had sono's done. I never paid a copay for an office visit, and I never paid when the dr did a quick sono, only for the big scans.

crashing- this but I also had to pay $15 each time my OB did a sono on me.
