String Beans and Asparagus
I need new recipes for these. I am sick of the balsamic and olive oil that I always make with these.
Any suggestions to spice up these greens?

Re: String Beans and Asparagus
1. For Both: Sesame Oil, splash of Teryaki Sauce and 1 tsp of honey combined. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds
2. String Beans: Sautee some Garlic and add a can of italian style Stewed Tomatoes
3. For both .... Roasted in oven with olive oil, shallots, and kosher salt. Toss with toasted almond slivers (or Pignoil nuts). Yumm.
4. Asparagus: Blanch asparagus. Put in pyrex, sprinkle with Parmegan, Breadcrumb, Black Pepper and Garlic Powder. Broil until bread crumbs are golden brown.
5. Both: sautee 2 tablespoons unsalted butter , 1 tsp lemon zest, and 1 tbs lemon juice. Add blanched veggies and sautee until coted.

Re: String Beans and Asparagus
for string beans i boil them for 20 minutes or so with 3 cloves of garlic. meanwhile on the side i mix soy sauce, pepper, a dash of salt, garlic powder and oregano. then i bake sesame seeds for like 3 minutes, don't burn them. when the beans are done just pour the sauce and the sesame seeds over them and you will LOVE it! i usually bake asparagus with garlic powder, salt and pepper, sometimes butter and breadcrumbs too.

Re: String Beans and Asparagus
Asparagus...
I usually drizzle on some olive oil, a little kosher salt, red pepper flakes, and sometimes garlic or parmesean cheese. Then I just throw them in the oven on 400 until they are the desired consistency...usually about 10-15 minutes. YUM!

Re: String Beans and Asparagus
Thanks!
I bought a pomegranate glaze from Trader Joe's this afternoon and think I might try drizzling it over the string beans tonight.
I will definitely be trying everything you ladies suggested also. DH is so picky and won't eat any other veggies aside from these two, so I need to expand with what I can do with them!
Thanks again!

Re: String Beans and Asparagus
Tamari Sauce is AWESOME on string beans. I just saute them in some olive oil and them pour the tamari sauce. It can be found in most supermarkets w/ other asian type sauces etc
