Mammo? update
Is it normal to see a lymph node on a mammo? I had my first one today. I asked to look at the images. It was obvious that there was a big lymph node on one of the images.
Update. I'm trying not to freak out but I need add'l views and an ultrasound on both breasts. They found 2 different types of densities I guess for a lack of a better word. I know most of the time they turn out to be nothing but my anxiety level is very high at the moment. Going on Tuesday for follow ups. Searching the internet is not a good idea.

Re: Mammo?
Did you ask the tech or doctor if it was normal? I didn't view my images, but nothing was notated in the report about lymph nodes (my mammo was normal, dense breast tissue noted).

Re: Mammo?
Same thing happened to me recently, although the lymph node was picked up after my 2nd mammo during an ultrasound. I had a follow up appt with a breast surgeon who was not concerned with the lymph node.

Re: Mammo?
Thanks ladies. I've been thinking about it all night. I didn't ask because I'm an x-ray tech and its unethical to ask, we cant tell you what we see, if we do and get reported we can lose our licenses.

Mammo? update
I have very dense breasts. I automatically get sonos along with a mammogram. Everything will be fine. Think positive.

Mammo? update
I did not have that when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It could be something else, like just the lymph node doing its job fighting off an infection, not cancer.
If you want to learn more about breast cancer go to: www.breastcancer.org
It's a site both Memorial Sloan Kettering and New York Hospital's breast center recommended.
Best of luck.

Re: Mammo? update 10/21.
One more update.
So went for follow up exams x-rays and an US today. I'm not feeling 100% comfortable with the results. They basically told me that they cant tell me 100% what is going on and to come back in 6 months for a follow up. I feel like I should go for a 2nd opinion or am I just being over dramatic. I will be able to get my reports today or tomorrow.

Mammo? update
Some radiologists take a wait and see approach and tell you to come back in 6 months, others have you do a biopsy right away. If you feel uncomfortable and will be worrying, you can always make an appt with a breast surgeon to get a second opinion.

Re: Mammo? update
I'm sorry that you still don't have a concrete answer.
FM me if you'd like the name of my breast surgeon or radiology center.
I agree with the PP about getting an MRI with contrast!
ETA - There is no such thing as being overdramatic. This is your health, and if you are not comfortable with the wait-and-see approach, you have every right to go elsewhere for another opinion. Your body, your life, your decisions!
