anyone else feel this way?

We've been TTC now going on 11 months. We do already have one DC who is two, and who we got pregnant with right away. Of course the first month trying I thought we'd definitely get pregnant, then the second month I thought for sure, then I thought we'd get pregnant after I stopped breast feeding...well now I pretty much tell myself we'll try but don't get your hopes up, this way I don't stress too much. So when we DDT and about a week afterwards I'm like ok I'll wait til I actually miss my period to test because it's probably not gonna happen anyway and then a week before my period I start getting hopeful, and I hate that I do that. I don't really have any signs/symptoms of pregnancy, just keep hoping I'm wrong and this'll be the month and then I'm always so disappointed when my period comes. I don't know how to just chill out for the whole month, I feel like I do a good job the first 2/3rds of the month and then the last 1/3 I start getting like oh maybe I am, oh I'll be due such and such a date, and I get excited at the thought of being pregnant. I just want to stop driving myself crazy. Not sure how to do that.

Yes!!!!. I wish there was an on/off switch in my brain and heart so I can jut totally relax and not think about ttc or signs or anything.

Yes, it really messes with your head. My first month TTC I was three days late, so I totally got my hopes up. Then the second month AF came two days early, which was like a punch in the gut bc I wasn't mentally prepared to know. Not being able to time this out is totally making me crazy.

Absolutely! I was so disappointed Sunday night when AF showed up...of course I don't know why I thought I would get pregnant immediately after we started trying when I had always said that because of my age and health issues I would need medical intervention.

Re: anyone else feel this way?

Absolutely!! I just was thinking about this morning after I stupidly decided to take a pregnancy test even though I am only 8DPO in hopes that it will give even the faintness positive.

I think that all of us go through this in some degree. This month is only the second month of TTC. I kept telling myself to chill out otherwise I am going to make myself crazy until I conceive and definitely don't want to take the fun out of it.

I find when I'm busier whether with work or DS, I tend to think about testing less.

Sorry I wasn't much help.

I think it's totally normal to feel that way, and I don't really think there's anything you can do to change it.

I know this isn't what you asked, and maybe not what you want to hear, but if you've been TTC for 11 months unsuccessfully, it might be time to think about seeing an RE...

Yes, I know exactly how you feel - we conceived DD very quickly and that was just not the case second time around. I wasted so many tests (which are so expensive) and was so bummed each time. What helped me a little - was thinking that I was supposed to get a specific child and that it would happen when that specific child was supposed to be born. Maybe it's silly, but psychologically it helped me out.

I keep telling myself the same thing, that maybe the baby that would have been made this month just wasn't meant to be...and then I think, maybe my first DC was a miracle baby and I never even knew it. I have made an appt to go to RE this month. So hopefully we can see what's really going on... Thanks everyone for making me feel like I'm not completely crazy Chat Icon

I feel defeated. I'm doing IVF treatment so it's really stressful. We started the IVF process in April 2011 and did not get pregnant until January 2013.

The thing that makes it more stressful is DH and I have DC from natural conception but now with non-functioning tubes infertility treatment was our only option.

We just did a FET earlier this month which was a BFN and going to start another in November. This will probably be our last try so I'm trying to not stress and keep a calm warm uterus.
