holy crap they are alot of money
Looking at washable breast pads, nursing covers and carseat covers. Wow why are they so much money!? Im going to break out the sewing machine and see how much it costs me to make but i know for a fact it wont cost me 50 to make a carseat cover or nursing cover. Anyone make their own baby supplies?

My MIL made me a nursing cover. Honestly, I prefer just using a scarf. DS gets frustrated with the cover. I never had a carseat cover. In the beginning I just used the Bundleme.

I used Aden and Anais blankets for a cover. I received a cover and hated it.

Check out udder covers and carseat canapoy.com They often have 40% off and you can get them for the cost of shipping with promotion codes from BBB and motherhood maternity.

I'd save your money on the carseat cover and just use a blanket. I did like my nursing cover and the bamboobies pads. I just got a BRU coupon for 20% off yesterday. If you got that it's usually a better deal to buy things not on sale when you can use the coupon. Also put them on a registry so you get a little money back!

Re: holy crap they are alot of money
For car seat covers, I used the aiden and anais blankets during the summer. I also have a heavy crocheted one that someone gave me but I'll be switching to the jj cole bundle ones soon.
For breastfeeding ccovers, I received a free one from udder covers- i just paid shipping. DS doesn't really liked to be covered during nursing. He pulls at it or thinks its hide & seek time. Since you can follow patterns, I say make your own. It will be more special!

My suggestion if you try to make a nursing cover is to find a pattern that includes adding the wire at the top. I used my cover the most in the first month or two when I was nursing a lot more often so there were lots of times when we were out or with company that I needed to nurse. It was also when we were still getting good at it so being able to see in bc of the wire was really helpful in those early days when I needed to adjust her latch. Once DD could latch on easily and things were more seamless I usually just put a burp cloth over myself and it was probably more discreet than a big cover.
