This is the most ignorant comment i have ever read. "you know better, you do better". Your personal experience should produce a positive opinion. But ignorant opinions have turned yours negative. You stated your dog is healthy and the love of your life. So your the ignorance of someone else making you THINK your dogs parents were mistreated makes you regret the purchase? what if you are wrong. What if your dogs parents are well taken care of and loved. Do you or anyone on the board have any FACTS to base your opinions around. And not just "All pet stores use puppy mills". because some "So called breeders" say that "No reputable breeder would sell through a pet store".. the only FACT from that is that those particular breeders would not sell through a pet store. i never see any actual evidence that the specific pet store you are talking about gets their dogs from puppy mills. Just blanket statements that ALL stores use MILLS.

i guess the old friend that told me all black people were criminals and drug addicts was right. I guess i should call him and apologize for calling him a racist.

That, my friend, is quite the leap.

I'd put money on it that you are somehow affiliated with a puppy mill/backyard breeder/pet store to go out of your way to search for this very old topic.

I have asked shake a paw what happens to the older dogs they never adopt oops sell, they never give an answer. I do know a good breeder will always take a puppy or dog back no matter the reason, because they feel responsible for the life of the dog, this I know from experience. Pet stores will never take it back. Ever person I know that bought a dog from that place had a sick dog. That being said, im sure dogs were sold that were healthy. A truly GREAT breeder will only sell to people they vet out and make sure their breed is appropriate for that person or family, this I know from experience as well.

Re: Shake-A-Paw Pet Store and the American Kennel Club?

I am totally against puppy mills and wish I had the means and power to have them all shut down.

On the other hand, I cannot help but feel so sorry for all the puppies in puppy stores that were born into such horrible conditions. I feel like coming from such a horrible birth place that each and every one deserves a happy, loving familly to take care of them.

Furthermore, I feel the same for all dogs up for adoption...they should be loved just the same.

Re: Shake-A-Paw Pet Store and the American Kennel Club?

Good breeders do not need a middle man-such as a pet store-to sell their puppies.

good breeders like to find them homes on their own. puppy mill breeders are looking for a quick buck, quick turn around-so they will get rid of the dogs asap and sell them to a pet store!

More and more people are becoming educated on puppy mills/pet stores which is such a great thing. Hopefully sooner than later, these terrible stores will be gone!!

Another thought is that good breeders keep their puppies in their home with other dogs or littermates until they find homes-working on training, etc. In a nice home setting.

Where as puppies in a puppy store get to spend their time in cages until they are purchased!

Puppy Mill Protest
Worldwide Puppies and Kittens

Bellmore, NY

Saturday, December 20th
11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Please forward this email to all who care about animals.

On Saturday, December 20th, LION will be hosting educational demonstrations outside of a Nassau County pet dealer to educate the public about why we should adopt, not shop!

Many people will buy puppies from Puppy stores which come from Puppy Mills this Christmas. Puppy store/Puppy mill dogs are known to suffer from various illnesses which are not necessarily apparent at the time of purchase.

The parents are forced to breed endlessly in horrendous conditions until they can no longer breed and are then gotten rid of.

Please join us at the Bellmore Puppy Mill Protest.

Thank you for listening!
