Ideas for integrating vocabulary
I'm covering a library media specialist leave for the year. Our school is becoming big with vocabulary and our district wants it integrated into all subjects and specials. Any creative ideas on how to work it into lessons? Other than posting them around the room I'm drawing a blank on this one. Grades 3-5. Thanks!

Re: Ideas for integrating vocabulary
1. After there is a list of vocabulary words, have students create a story using the words.
2. Use a frayer model. It is a four square with the word in the middle. You write synonyms in one square, antonym in another, and a square for sentence and picture. You can also do this by having students use context clues to define the word (what you think the meaning is, clues, picture, sentence.
3. Acting out the word
4. Having a word wall, but having the students add words as they are reading with a definition.
5. Use a gradient. Get paint samples from home depot. Have students use five words that are synonyms of each other. Have students put the less juicy synonym on the bottom and the juicier one on top. Have a discussion about why.
6. Have students come up with a song for the vocabulary words using the music of common songs on the radio.
