Advice needed on IUI's
I am needing advice on what should be the next steps if this next IUI does not work. Unfortunately, My last clomid/iui cycle ended in a CP
I did decide to do one last Clomid/IUI but after this one if it doesn't work, i will have to make an appt with my Doctor to talk about what to do next.
Some back story, I'm 35, DH is 44. I have unexplained infertility. His SA is ok. Motility could be better though.
I know i heard that injectables with IUI can up chances more but should i even bother or should i start thinking IVF. The only problem i have with IVF is the price compared to IUI's.
So confused and frustrated as well as you know. Can someone give me some incite on whether doing injectables would be a good next step? How much injectables do you use? Is monitoring the same? Is the success rate better?
Thanks.

Re: Advice needed on IUI's
I'd definitely try injectables. That's what worked for us...TWICE! It's a good next step before IVF. And especially if you had a CP, then you know that IUIs can work, so you might as well try injectables. I personally think you get a better stim from them.

Re: Advice needed on IUI's
seems like you have a lot to consider. Do you have insurance that's paying for IVF?
How many follies did you produce with clomid?
What's your RE recommending?

Re: Advice needed on IUI's
It's a good next step.
I paid out of pocket before insurance covered anything.
Although it failed for me, we did find out that I needed to be suppressed before starting ivf. I had one dominant follicle that suppressed all the rest during IUI with injectables.
Overall, I've thought the judgement of my MD was excellent.

Advice needed on IUI's
I would definitely try injectables first. The only reason we did IVF was because our chance of getting pregnant with iui was more or less zero due to diagnosis.

Haven't spoke to my RE yet but i'm going to about what to do next if this cycle does not work. Insurance covers IUI's only so thats why i would lean on continuing Iui's for awhile. With clomid i produce about 2 and the last one with the CP was 3.

Advice needed on IUI's
I would definitely consider doing at least 1 IUI cycle with injectables given the financial constraints of IVF. I did 4 IUI's (2 natural, 2 with clomid) all resulting in BFN. The only reason we moved to IVF after that was a) the diagnosis was male fertility issues and IUI didn't exactly give us great success percentages and b) IVF's are covered on my insurance. The way I look at it, you've got nothing to lose by trying an IUI injectable cycle and if it happens to result in a BFP, you'll have saved thousands of dollars paying OOP for an IVF!

I would try an IUI with injects. It didn't work for me and I needed IVF but its worth a shot. Many ladies have success with it. GL

Re: Advice needed on IUI's
Definitely do the injectables. I know someone who got pregnant with twins due to injectables.
