CPSE- speech
Hi ladies-
I just got DS eval back from Metro Therapy. He is 3 and was evaluated for speech but had a psych eval too.
So- no issues on the psych eval. Although he said he had trouble understanding DS at times.
On speech eval his receptive was average.
His articulation was "significantly delayed" - 7%
His phonological was "mildly delayed" - 11%
The speech therapist wrote that he is making a bunch of errors that are not normal developmentally and will not self-correct without treatment.
Am I wrong to hope that he will get approved for speech therapy? Our meeting is on 11/19.
My friend said to try to get speech 3x a week- do you think that is realistic?
TIA!!

Re: CPSE- speech
I think he will most likely qualify since he was significantly delayed in one area and delayed in another. DS is getting services through EI right now but I know they only approved for 2x a week... I would push for 3x if you can.

Update- CPSE- speech
I just wanted to say that DS got approved for speech 3x a week!
I am SO happy- he had his first session yesterday and it went so well!
They wanted to give him 2x a week but I was pushy and they agreed to 3x. They allowed it because of his scores and also the evaluator wrote in the report that he had oral-motor weakness.
Thank you everyone for your help and advice. It feels so good to know that DS is getting the help he needs.
