When you shop online for the kids ...
and get deliveries at home (specficially for the holidays), do your kids ask what's inside the package?
My oldest (almost 5) is starting to ask why the UPS man is coming around so much.
I'm thinking of using my mom's address for shipping but then I have a hard time keeping track of what I have or have not received.

I don't know. My mom has offered to take deliveries but she doesn't live that nearby so that stresses me a little. Our mail also comes SO late- usually I am getting DD from the bus at the same time. In the past I've come home with her to find a box. Not sure what to do!

Re: When you shop online for the kids ...
I've been telling DS it's clothes I ordered for me. It's kind of believe able because I do order clothing online frequently.
Then I put it in the attic and he forgets about it.
Let's see what happens over the next 2 weeks though....

See, I've been saying the same thing but then it's, "Can I see what you got?"

There was a time I could do that- but I don't really buy myself clothes online any more and my kid is much sharper and would totally notice that I wasn't really wearing anything new. I am just going to have to be very creative.

When you shop online for the kids ...
I usually tell the kids that their aunt who lives in the city sends things to the house so she doesn't have to bring it on the train with her..I have been putting her name on the packages too since now my older dc can read

Re: When you shop online for the kids ...
My kids are older so this year I told them they are not to look at any box that comes in as they will know what it is just from the address lol. Years before, it was easier as they wouldn't pay attention or just say it was for us.

My blanket statement is that it's for daddy's work. Then I quickly shove a snack in her mouth so she forgets about it lol.

Depends on my mood. Huge box came two weeks ago - Plasma Car for DS. He asked if it was for him. I told him yes and he needed to wait until Chanukah. He kept trying to guess things but now that we put the box in my closet, he's forgotten about it. But, he is on high alert every time another box comes.

I shop online so excessively that my kids don't blink an eye to the packages
I get so many packages weekly... usually daily... sometimes multiple times a day from different shipping services.
But this year I started and finished my Christmas shopping so long ago that the ups guy has been coming less frequently now then normally.
In your case I would just say they are Christmas gifts for other people. Nieces/Nephews/friends/grandma etc.

DS is still too young to know whats going on, and he just likes that there's a box he can play with but in the future I will have to get the packages delivered to my mom's house.

Re: When you shop online for the kids ...
DH owns his own business so we're always getting packages at the house. The boys ignore those bc they're used to them going straight to the office anyway. We are keeping the toys in the office in the closet so works out perfectly. They could care less about packages,

Re: When you shop online for the kids ...
I ship most things to work for this reason.
But when we do ship to the house, we tell the kids it's for my husband's work. He used to get stuff overnighted to the house at his old job when he had to go in to the office at night or travel to a different site. Not so much anymore with his new job, but we still stick to that story.
My son can read now, so we try to limit what gets sent to the house this time of year.

Yeah, my hubby is an Amazon Prime addict.
Packages come all of the time. They don't even ask.

Me too!! We get deliveries weekly from Amazon all year long, my kids think nothing of it.......and my DD is 6. She never really even notices, on the VERY rare occasion she does inquire I just say they are gifts for her cousins and she leaves it at that.

They always want to know. I always say it's for daddy...for the car, some tool, for the house. He is always ordering stuff so they don't question it too much. Bigger boxes get more attention!

Shoes - always shoes...lol...or clothes...They never ask to see inside once I say that. My daughter will ask for her and when I say no - the subject ends.
Luckily I also order lots of other gifts online so I show them the next day what I got and who it is from.

Re: When you shop online for the kids ...
I get packages all the time because I only shop online, plus my DH receives a lot of packages for work...but my oldest reads who it's to and from which can sometimes be an issue. And many times, our UPS deliveries don't arrive until after 7pm, which means the kids are home and rush to greet "The Package Man!"
My DH likes to joke that our 2nd child is a "result" of the UPS guy because he's our only child with brown eyes & hair like the UPS guy...coupled with the fact that my son wanted to be the UPS guy for Halloween for 3 years in a row.

Re: When you shop online for the kids ...
I got busted My 4.5 yr old found the playhouse that's supposed to be from Santa tucked in our garage. Darn thing has a picture on it. He told me... "mama... that's going to be my playhouse in that pacakage"
Now, Santa will give the little things.
