East Islip Preschool Program
Hi there,
Wondering if anyone from East Islip is familiar with the timperpoint preschool program?
I feel like when we moved there 2 years ago someone mentioned it was some sort of lottery?
any other advise regarding other preschools in the area would be greatly appreciated.
Also, what age do you normally enroll a child? DS will be 2.5 in Fall 2015.
Thank you!

Its a UPK program run by Scope. It is only for 3 and 4 year olds. If there is a grant that year than they will open up a lottery for 4 year olds to receive full tuition. If not the prices are listed.
You can find the enrollment applications online at SCOPE when they open up this summer. http://www.scopeonline.us/child.php#preschool
ETA: I completely forgot Chatterbox! Love that pre-school http://www.chatterboxdayschool.com/

I don't believe they have pre-school. I think St. Mary's is pre-k (4) until 8th.
None of my family/friends used them but my Mom is a graduate from there lol!

Timberpoint does have a Pre-K program run by Scope. My daughter was in it last year and had been chosen in the lottery, so it was free. It was an excellent program and I highly recommend it. I've heard good things about Chatterbox, but it's insanely expensive.
ETA: They choose 80 children in the lottery (at least they did last year) so your chances of being chosen are pretty good!

She also did Nursery school at St. Mary's. It was just *okay*. IMO, it was a lot of money and I wasn't thrilled with it at all.

Re: East Islip Preschool Program
Thanks everyone!
He won't be old enough for the scope program next year, he'll only be 2.5, so back to the drawing board...but I am definitely going to try and get him in for the following year.
I looked into St. Marys and they have to be 3.
Anyone else who could offer suggestions for 2 year olds would be greatly appreciated!

East Islip Preschool Program
There's a program at East Islip High School called Toddler High. It's an elective that is taken by high school students interested in early childhood education. It's more fun than academic. I'm not sure if there is a cost involved, but a few of my friends have sent their children and have really enjoyed it. Not sure what age they start.

Re: East Islip Preschool Program
DD goes to chatterbox. I love it there. She started in the 2 yr old program. Must be 2 by Dec 1. They were fabulous with her. However, they were expensive so for the 3 yr old program i switched to St Marys. It was very inexpensive, however I was not happy at all. There were 27 kids in her class and 1 teacher and 1 aide. I did not think that was legal but there must be an exception somewhere for religious institution otherwise they were in violation on a daily basis. I switched her back to Chatterbox for PreK and am so glad i did. The extra money is definitely worth it for me.

Re: East Islip Preschool Program
I did the same thing, but only because we were going to send our child to St Marys for school - I was very happy with Chatterbox - We do have friends who used South Shore and were happy there too. East Islip also has a universal Pre-k by lottery for 4 year olds for 2 1/2 hrs a day.
