ISO - new OB!
I recently received my BFP and am in the market for a new OB. I planned to give birth at St. Catherine of Siena (is this even a good hospital?!) with my previous gyno. I am relatively new to the area, had visited my ‘new gyno’ once since moving. I called yesterday and did not like my experience. There were very long call wait times, I got disconnected 2x, received busy signals – and the front desk staff did not speak to me like a first time pregnant person should be treated. I made an appt for 1/5, but would like to find a new office before then. I want this experience to be pleasant and as stress free as possible, and I’m not sure my current office is the right fit.
I live in Commack and am taking recommendations! I want a knowledgeable, gentle, kind OB (preferably woman, but I’m flexible) that I will feel comfortable with throughout. I work in Nassau, so later office hours would be a plus so I can get there after work. Any suggestions? I have United Healthcare insurance if that helps.
Thank you in advance!!!

ISO - new OB!
Congrats on your BFP! I know you live in Commack, but since you work in Nassau I figured I'd throw my OB practice out there. I go to Women for Women OBGYN. They are located on Lakeville Road in New Hyde Park right next to LIJ Katz Women's Hospital where they have privileges and are affiliated with. The practice is 5 women MD's (Bell, Smizer, Ostroff, Sanders, Duncan) and 1 female nurse practitioner (Newman). My main doctor is Dr. Nicole Bell and I love her -- she is super knowledgeable, has a great personality, and fantastic bedside manner. They do make you rotate early in your pregnancy so that you will eventually end up seeing all the docs, as any of them can deliver you. I've seen all of the doctors and have liked them all (with the exception of one who was all business and not interested in chatting/getting to know me). I figured liking 4 out of 5 doctors is still pretty good odds. They do have late hours on certain days (until 8pm I think), so they definitely have after work availability. I've never waited more than 25 minutes and the office staff and nurses have all been very helpful!

I second W4W. I just changed there when I got pg with #2 and so far have been very happy. They even accommodated me when I had spotting early on and had me come right in for a sono.

Thank you for the suggestion! I am looking for Suffolk County though, preferably the Commack/Smithtown areas. I wish w4W was in Suffolk - they sound perfect!

Congrats!!! I don't know of any OBs in Suffolk, but I use Dr. Lauren Bashian in Bellmore. She's great; been using her for a couple of years and she delivered my DD August 2013.
The wait times can go either way. I've noticed if I go either Thursday evening or Friday mornings I'm in an out.

I go to Suffolk ObGyn and see Dr. San Roman. I absolutely love him, he has been great with me. I go to the Port Jeff office, but they have an office in Smithtown and 2 of the female doctors work out of that office.

Re: ISO - new OB!
I had to find a new practice that delivered at St. Catherine after my previous practice moved out of state. I was very happy with first delivery at St. Catherines so it was important to me to deliver there again. I go to Women's Health Professionals. They have 3 women MDs who deliver (Flores, Amorin, Marin). All 3 are great! I heard a rumor that another MD was joining the practice. There are other MD's there and NP's but they don't deliver.

Re: ISO - new OB!
I just went through a pregnancy with Dr Sharon Cote of the Huntington Medical Group and loved her and her nurse. She spends 2 days I think in a Commack office and has evening hours. She delivers out of Huntington Hospital and I had a great experience there too.
