Strange question
I have been very appreciative of the support over the last week here- I was a blubbering mess through most of the week- work was difficult, but I think I had my first day of not crying yesterday- so, progress I guess.
Anyway, I have a bit if an odd question and not sure if anybody can answer, but here goes: I really had no bleeding immediately after my d&c on Friday, dec 12th -although I did have some cramping. On Wednesday, dec 17th, however, I started bleeding and it has continued. So, my question is- the longer I bleed now, will that ultimately impact when I get my first AF again, or are the two independently related- ie the bleeding now is bc of the d&c and doesn't impact my cycle? I had called my dr because I was surprised that bleeding would start up days later and he left a vm just indicating that bleeding was normal for "up to 4 weeks". And while that upsets me (the bleeding is a constant reminder) I just hope that doesn't mean (If that happens) that I'll have to wait THAT much longer to resume some normalcy, since he told us to wait a regular cycle before ttc again.
Sorry for the long question. Thanks!!

Re: Strange question
hmm.. i wish i had a great answer for you.
im sorry to ask, but did you begin bleeding at that's how you knew you were miscarrying, or did you find out at a sono? and how much are you bleeding now?
i bled, which is how i knew. a LOT. but it all happened very quickly (didn't need a dnc). and i feel like my body went back to normal rather quickly (in terms of cervical mucus etc) and i will know next week if im back to normal if i get my period.
so im wondering if you are bleeding now according to what would be your period.
im sorry sorry about this. i said the same thing...that the bleeding is just a reminder and i just wanted it to be done.

Strange question
Thanks Dani--- no, I dont think it's my period (TMI but it looks different, and I cant imagine that it would happen 5 days later--- and although I didnt bleed for the first 5 days, I wouldnt say my body was "normal" after the d&C)....I didnt have any bleeding prior to the D&C-- my body was fully holding onto the pregnancy before then. I guess I will just check-in with my dr. about this at my follow up at the end of this week.
It is frustrating-- was hoping I'd just "go back to normal"-- but it doesnt quite seem like the case....but we'll see.

Re: Strange question
Sorry you are going through this.
I had a D&C and didn't bleed at all for 5 days. Then I started bleeding and I bled for a little less than 3 weeks (towards the end it was spotting). Then it stopped. About a week later, I got my period (which was very heavy but only a few days). So I got my period 4-5 weeks after the D&C but bled a lot of the time.
HTH!

Re: Strange question
First of all . I totally get what your saying about the bleeding being a constant reminder. It was driving me nuts. If it gets worse, is extremely clotty or you are very crampy, please call you doctor. You may want to do a follow up sono to make sure there is no left over tissue. This can happen even after a D and C. Most times if there is, you pass it on your own which may prolong the bleeding. I won't get into my story, it is not the norm, but please, if you are worried or don't feel right, please call your doctor. I hope your bleeding stops soon so you can start healing physically and mentally. Tons of hugs and prayers to you.
