Off Pill 4 months

Hi everyone, I need some hope! I was on the pill for 10 years and stopped when I got married in August. We started to try right away but I have yet to experience any ovulation symptoms. I went to doctor in November and if I don't get preg by end of February I have an appt. for hormone tests. I have done the ovulation predictor test for two months and got + results both times and last month I did BBT charting and according to chart I ovulated. This month I did nothing to help relieve some stress from thinking about it and I am due for my period Wednesday. Anyone else have a problem TTC after pill??

I don't think you are off long enough, 10 years is long time to be on hormones. Your body needs time to readjust bc prior every cycle was so controlled, you were sort of in a state of pregnancy for 10 years

I was on the pill for almost 15 years. I went off of it in Aug 12' and conceived my dear son 6 months later in Feb 13'.

I truly feel that when I stressed over conceiving it didn't help the situation.

Enjoy the process!

Did you notice no signs of ovulation as well when you first came off pill?

Thanks for the feedback the more I let it all out the less stressed I feel each month. Just waiting it out. I guess I was stubborn to the fact of my body readjusting since I have notice no change in my body since I stopped taking the pill.

I don't remember but it did take time to regulate to every 30 days, the first few month I had no period.

That's what is throwing me off! I get my period on time for the same length of time each month. Just no signs of ovulation except + test results/BBT charting.

You should start temping also, then you will know if you definitely O'ed.

I also went off the pill in August after being on for 11 years. We didn't try the first 2 months, but I have had spotting for a week straight before I get AF (very much not normal). I get extremely bloated around ovulation time and this month got a positive ovulation test (first time using one) as well as a day or 2 of EWCM- definitely not the several days I've heard about. Truthfully, you may be ovulating- the regular periods are a great sign, but it just hasn't happened yet which is VERY normal.

I feel like everyone insists you're more fertile right after the pill and so many women get pregnant immediately. It's the only side of the story we hear and because of it we start to freak out a little when then same doesn't happen for us.

According to my OBGYN once you are off the pill your off. She claims it has no lasting affects on conceiving, but I personally don't agree.
As far as ovulation signs, are you referring to cramping? Because I didn't start to feel that for a while.
I need to stress that you don't stress or look for things to be there/happening. Some people don't feel ovulation occurring. I know it's easier said then done but try to just let it happen.
I've been try for 12 months and honestly it's put a strain on my sex life because we do it to conceive now not just for fun. I'm hoping once I do get that BP my sex life can go back to the way it was! Enjoy trying!

I did temp for one month and it showed I ovulated. I've done everything the kits everything shows that I did. However, I heard you can get positive results or show that you ovulated in your temps but an egg doesn't actually drop. When I refer to symptoms I have no cramping, sore breasts, or EWCM. I didn't do any ovulation kits this month or chatt my temp because sometimes it creates more stress for me.

The egg not dropping can happen, but I don't think that's what causes the secondary symptoms of o- EWCM is a result of the estrogen surge (happens before the egg drops), cramping is likely the follicles maturing. The sore breasts are usually caused by rising progesterone (happens after ovulation), but not everyone gets them. Lots of women don't feel ovulation. If you're periods are regular and flow is normal you are most likely ovulating. Even if your egg wasn't dropping, your body would attempt again, which would throw your period off.

You may just need more time to regulate. I know it's hard to be patient, I'm the exact same way. The "3 months to regulate" rule is bs. I read a study which compared cycle disturbances in women who never took bc and women who recently went off bc. The post-bc group had a higher rate of cycle disturbances until cycle 7 when it finally leveled off.

Thanks I'm starting to think more positive now that I'm realizing I can't control the situation. I will keep you posted. :)

I was on BC for 8 years before TTC. It took us 6 cycles of actively trying to conceive and 8 or 9 months post BC. I got pg the second month I temped. You are likely ovulating but just not feeling it. Not everyone does and the same symptoms can occur at different times for different people. 4 months is not an unusually long time when it comes to TTC, although it feels that way. You should only be concerned if you haven't conceived within a year of trying if under 35 and 6 months if over 35. Typically an RE won't see you until then... I would focus on reducing any possible stress and just try to enjoy it. Also I would definitely temp every month, it's the only way to know for sure when you O. It turned out I actually ovulated much later than I thought and much later than what was suggested by the positive OPKs.. Good luck !!!

If you're getting + O tests and your temping showed you Oed, then you likely are Oing. 4 months isn't really that long to TTC, especially if you're just coming off the pill.

Also, most women don't experience noticable cramping from Oing. Sore breasts is not really a sign of O. And not everyone experiences EWCM, and if they do, it can be before or after O. Not really a good indication of Oing either.
