Levittown neighborhood? ??

How is levittown neighborhood? Is it a safe neighborhood?
I heard the schools are really in both levittown and island tree school district.
I have also been reading from the Patch newspaper for lono island about car theft near levittown. That's why I was little concerned about the neighborhood. Cuz I am ready to make an offer for a house in levittown.

My in law live in Levittown and love it. They have never had a problem with robbery or anything and have lied there for over 30 years. I am not sure what there section is called but it is between saddle and gardeners

Car theft can happen anywhere

I had my car stolen growing up in my driveway in a very nice town so it happens.

I grew up in Levittown. My parents still live there and my sister just bought there. It's a safe neighborhood.

I don't live in Levittown, but I've been hearing about cars being burglarized in many different areas of Nassau County lately.

A good friend of mine lives in Levittown - it's a great area! She loves it. Very safe, no complaints.

Levittown has two middle/high schools --

Division High/Wisdom Middle - North Levittown

MacArthur High/Salk Middle - South Levittown and North Wantagh

You are also correct that a small pocket of Levittown located just west of Wantagh Ave around Hempstead Tpke (north and south) is zoned for Island Trees SD. Island Trees also pulls in from parts of Seaford and Bethpage.

Levittown is a large school district, and school taxes are much higher. Island Trees is a smaller district (on the Princeton plan for elementary schools - organized by grade, not neighborhood) with very low school taxes (one of the lowest tax areas in Nassau).

Levittown is a safe, solidly middle class area. Some of my clients prefer MacArthur High school (it's ranked academically higher in many lists, such as Newsday), but Division has some great programs.

Most areas of Levittown are Levitt capes and Levitt ranches (which are really a cape) built on slabs without basements. There are Miller capes with basements in the Island trees area, and some regular ranch style homes with basements in Island Trees. Occasionally, you find Levitts with a partial basement (they have been extended and a basement built under the extension). But if you want to look in Levittown, you basically have to be ok with a cape style house of some kind with no basement. Also, the vast majority of Levittown has oil, so if you want gas, Levittown is probably not the place to look.

i live in wantagh with levittown schools (lee road/salk/macarthur). i personally love it here. my parents live in north bellmore and had 2 houses burglarized on their block. it can happen anywhere.

the only reason i didnt look to move in the actual town of levittown is because i wanted a basement and most houses there are levitt houses with no basements.
