Has anyone here lost a significant amount of weight?
I want to lose about 60 pounds. I'm having trouble getting started. My main issues is I suffer from major depressive disorder and I'm insulin resistant. I always have the best intentions, I get my stuff ready, set my alarm and then wake up and am exhausted. I'm not a great sleeper. The extra weight I'm carrying I know is contributing to my exhaustion.
Any tips for motivation?

Re: Has anyone here lost a significant amount of weight?
I have lost 32 lbs since February. I'm down 2sizes, even my feet are smaller. My DH lost 60lbs in the same amount of time. We have been eating organically, no processed foods for years but we were eating too much and not having enough good protein. We are using isagenix and I love it. I can't imagine a day without these products. We sleep better, feel better, never get sick, so much energy. It's amazing.
There are a lot of great systems out there, I think you need to pick one and commit to it! Good luck!

Re: Has anyone here lost a significant amount of weight?
I am down almost 50lbs since mid June. I started on a liquid diet that consisted of drinking nothing but protein shakes 4x/day through Center for Medical Weight Loss. I also got Lipo B-12 shots every week or two, and my total weight loss in 6 weeks was at least 25 to 30 lbs. I went off the shakes in mid August and started Weight Watchers so my weight loss slowed down to 1-3 lbs a week and now I am just doing the calorie count through MyFitness app. I stay between 1000-1200 calories a day, with my biggest calorie meal being either lunch or dinner.
It is hard to get started because you feel like there is so much to lose but if you set mini-goals like 10 lbs in 3 weeks, it is very doable. I have set myself another 6 month goal of losing the remaining 35-40lbs and I am contemplating signing up with a personal trainer in January once I am 100% healed from minor surgery I underwent a few weeks ago. I still have a lot more to lose, my goal is to get back into my size 8 jeans from high school. Before I started the CMWL diet, I was depressed at the idea that at least 50% of my clothing was coming from plus size stores like Lane Bryant, Sears, and Torrid (absolutely horrid ). I never want to wear a size 18/20 pants again. I keep a food journal at home so it forces me to stay on track, and I keep a ton of fruit snacks in my fridge so I don't tempt go over my caloric intake for the day.
You can do this!

consider transitioning to a paleo diet, but you have to stick to it long term for it to work. Basically it's protein, veggies, fruit, nuts/seeds and healthy fats. No dairy, grains or legumes. It's a big transition.

I actually had gone for the salvia dna test and they said a balanced diet would work better for me, which my dr normally pushes paleo.

You need to find a program that works for you and stick to it..I tried Paleo for a while before CWML and it was a but more work and effort than I wanted..lots of foods I ate were prohibited and I knew I wouldnt be able to stay w it long term. My primary motivation for the weight loss was a reality check from my doctor who did a blood test and showed me what dangerous problems were developing in my body if I didnt take immediate action. Prediabetes, abnormal blood pressure, plus risk of cancer multiplies ten fold for every 5-10 lbs you are over what your normal weight should be. While I did do cardio 2x a week at the gym after work, it was useless because at least 70-80% of weight loss is attributed directly to diet.
Since losing weight, my sleep apnea is gone (DH says I barely snore now), my mid back pain is gone, my period is regular, my urine and blood work show lower blood sugar levels, my wardrobe is all regular sized clothing now (so I dont need to pay extra for Plus size shirts at LL Bean/Lands End anymore) plus I just feel lighter all around.
To me, the weight loss remains purely for health reasons now..Obesity is a major epidemic disease in America and it is one if the leading contributors to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer..I refuse to be another statistic.

Has anyone here lost a significant amount of weight?
I have been on the Take Shape for Life program since July and have been so happy with the results. Its a 5 and 1 plan so you eat 5 of their meals a day and 1 that you make yourself. Their meals are shakes, bars, cereal, soups, they even have a mashed potato and mac and cheese. For me - I needed something that told me what to eat and when. and all the food is pretty convient for my hectic life lol.

Has anyone here lost a significant amount of weight?
I lost 35 pounds. Not by some gimmick diet of the week. It was actually very easy and simple. I stopped eating so much and started moving more. I eat healthy meals of anything I want. Nothing is forbidden. I just make sure I portion control. Basically I don't count calories or fat but I make sure everything I eat has nutritional value. I don't really work out but I move more. Take the stairs, clean more. One day I decided no more crazy fad diets and I didn't care about losing weight, just being healthy. The weight started coming off right away and has stayed off for over a year now.

I agree with this. Ive never been a fan of the fad diets because they are nearly impossible to maintain long term. I lost about 20 lbs in 4 months just eating normal size portions instead of seconds and thirds. Instead of dessert every night, Id save it for weekends. I walked a lot more and tried yoga and got to a point I could jog a mile or two, a couple times per week. Nothing too hard core. Bottom line is I didnt totallt cut out any particular food group. It was hard at first but after you start to see results, it gets way easier.
