Now what? TMI

So, as I mentioned, after my D&C, I continued to bleed for several weeks. 4 weeks was last friday, and it seemed that it had basically FINALLY stopped-- I stopped needing a pad etc.

SO, this Wednesday night, however, I came home from work and I had bled a bit again (looked a different color too-- before it was brown, this was not but it wasnt much). So I thought, maybe its AF!!! -- But Thursday during the day--- nothing. So I thought, ok, maybe not. Thursday night when I got home from work, again, I bled (again, only a small amount). Friday during the day-- basically nothing again. Friday night...a bit more blood (but not much) [as a side note, I sit at work all day and walk more when I'm heading home-- which makes me think gravity was doing its thing at night, LOL which is why I didnt bleed during the day???]

Do you think it's possible that AF started less than a week after I finished bleeding from the d&C? (but 5 weeks after the D&C)

Is this just spotting before AF, still more bleeding from the D&C, or could this BE AF and it's light? (my Dr. had said AF would be very heavy -- but I hear mixed things)

Any thoughts? Was your first AF light of heavy after the miscarriage? Do you think its possible that becuase I bled for so long after D&C that my AF would be light this time? Did you spot before AF after your miscarriage? (I never have before)

If this IS AF, then I want to count it and begin tracking-- any way to know for sure? I guess I could just wait it out and see if it continues....

THANKS!!!!

Re: Now what? TMI

I just FM'ed you to see how you were doing. AF was pretty normal, but I had some more cramping than usual. I did have a little spotting before AF. The timing was a bit complicated because I had 2 D and C's because of the left over tissue. I believe it was about 7 weeks after the original D and C.
I think the only way to know for sure would be to do blood work and a sono.

Re: Now what? TMI

I only bled for two weeks post d&c so I can't comment on that but my first AF post d&c was VERY light! I normally have 8 day periods with heavy flow & lots o cramps(I have endometriosis) and my first AF was two days and super light. It was mostly spotting and no cramps at all.

Hmm sounds like it could be AF but I'm sure everyone is different. I would tentatively start tracking and see how it continues. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks all. I think it's now unlikely this is af- pretty inconsistent and back to being brown. I guess the wait continues, as does the spotting. Oh well. I just hope the wait isn't too long- I want to get this show on the road! Lol.

Sorry you're dealing with this, I hate how long the lingering effects of a miscarriage can make it feel like its a never ending process and you don't know when you have really moved on physically! And I know exactly how you feel, mine dragged on and I had brownish spotting too. Sorry lady Chat Icon

So, it was spotting before AF. AF kicked in yesterday (5.5 weeks after D&C, just within the time the Dr. said it would come, i.e. 4-6 weeks) and its clearly distinguishable between the other bleeding I've had. Interesting to think that I've basically been bleeding for the last 5.5 weeks with the exception of a few days, lol.

Very happy that now I can start tracking and planning to TTC again. Yeah!

Thanks for all of your advice and support. Onto the next chapter!
