Disney question
I am looking to book a trip to Disney world for may. I have a 5 year old and a set of twins that will be a little over a year (but they were very premature so they wl be more like a 9 month old). We would be going by ourselves. Are we crazy to think this is doable??? I know it will not be easy and there will be melt downs etc- that I can handle. I am just worried about the airport/plane ride and the going to and from park. Anyone done it with 2 little ones and a bigger kid?

Disney question
We just booked, going beginning of May. DD turns 5 and my twin boys turn 3 all at the end of May. This is our first big vacation as a family and I'm pretty scared!

Re: Disney question
Oh yeah then you'll be fine. I thought you wanted to attempt it alone with 3 kids...I was going to say you are very brave.

Disney question
yes I did it. You will be fine. Just keep things handy on the plane for the kids to keep busy like crayons, coloring book, fav books, puzzles. Also, take a break from the parks...whether its a nap in the stroller or going back to the hotel. Don't worry about seeing/doing everything. You will have a fun time!!

Re: Disney question
As long as you bring a single and double stroller, you will be fine. I don't it will be busy either.

Re: Disney question
As a mom of three kids who were three and under (twin girls age 3 and then son who was 1.5) the first time we went to Disney, I would recommend, staying in a monorail hotel, or making reservations for breakfast at a monorail hotel so you can avoid the magic kingdom's parking lot. Having to get on the bus from the parking lot with two strollers and three kids can be a bit overwhelming.

Disney question
it is def doable! you will be fine however, I found that when I went, my dd at the time was almost 5 and my son was about 13 months and he was a lot of work. he was walking and just so wiggly and all over the place when we had to wait in line. Mind you, we went during a very low season, which was September. I wouldn't step foot in Disney unless it was a low season. The waits were not long at all, for some rides, we would walk right in, some 5 minutes, some were 15/20 minutes wait but still, my little guy was restless.
I am uncertain where May falls in the low vs.crowded season. I highly recmd going during low season- I think I mentioned it like 3 times already in this post lol. Disney is so expensive. and for the amount of money you burn, the trip can be exhausting. How are your twins temperament? are they calm relaxed kids? We went with another couple and their kids , same age as ours and their younger child was so chill and mild mannered, so they didn't have as rough of time as we did. I would like to go now that they are 6 and 3.5 but I am pregnant with a 3rd. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge , which had boat access to Magic Kingdom. We loved that feature!! I cant wait to go back someday! I would like to go now when this baby is really young or wait again till this one is 2/3 yrs old.

I wanted to add something that I didn't think of until we experienced it first hand. They make you park your stroller in a designated "stroller parking area" outside each ride. So, its not like you wait on line with your stroller and then push it off to the side. That means you will have to hold your twins or maybe they will hold your hands and stand patiently. that was the part that was hard for me b.c my little guy was so squirmy.

Re: Disney question
Honestly, I went last year with my youngest was 10 months old and I would never go again with anyone under 2.5 years old. I did not expect it to be nearly as exhausting as it was. You spend a lot of time trying to entertain a squirmy baby while standing in lines, or else you are sitting around waiting for DH and DC while they are on a ride. It was definitely not worth it for us. But my DC is not very easy-going and was not happy to just chill and hang out, so obviously that was a huge factor in my experience.
It's doable, but just be prepared to be completely and utterly exhausted.

Disney question
I wouldn't go with a child that is not potty trained, still needs a nap every day, and can't stay up past 9pm. We went with our 4 year old and 1 year old in October and it was a waste of money. They don't allow strollers ANYWHERE so the little ones can't even nap while you eat lunch. You have to carry diapers, maybe food and/or bottles, they don't want to be stuck in the stroller all day, and a lot of kids that young hate the characters, even if they love seeing them on TV.

Re: Disney question
It really depends on you, and your kids - We are scheduled every day of our lives (2 parents working in the city, so early/late daycare and all that comes w/ it) - BUT, my kids are very laid back and will adjust to almost anything - The first time we took the kids they were 2 adn 4 - it's NOT a relaxing trip. but NO trip is relaxing with small children. It's not like you get to sit on the beach sipping a frosty beverage and close your eyes when small kids are running around and want to play in the ocean - KWIM?
I think if you take it slowly, and don't FORCE anything, it is totally do able and enjoyable with any age child. Some advice: 1. Stay on Disney property - SO convenient 2. Order breakfast, snacks, drinks from Garden Grocer - I even did PB/J a lot while we were there 3. DO NOT spend all day at the parks. - When you try to fit everyting in, you encounter meltdowns, you get stressed out, you are hot and tired and miserable - it's not worth it. Go early in the morning or later in the evening - but IMO only 1/2 of the day - take the other 1/2 to relax at the pool, nap etc. 4. You don't have to carry your life with you all day - You need a camera, diapers/wipes, drinks, and snacks for the kids - that's it. You can eat ice cream for lunch - it's vacation! 5. Only you know your kids. Mine were find eating dinner at 8 or 9 pm - so I could do that. If your kids can't handle that, DON'T try to do it after a day running around the parks. 6. If your kids are tired, or cranky or miserable - it's ok to skip your fast pass and go back to the hotel. Again, it's a vacation - not a death march! 7. Rent a double stroller - DO NOT use the disney strollers - I didn't find it difficult to take the strollers anywhere - You can't go into restaurants w/ them - but if your kid is napping, that's kind of a given. Eat a quick service meal or wait for them to wake up - Again, you need to be a little flexible -
You and DH will def come home needing a vacation, but it will be worth it. You will, like ANY other week of your lives with youir kids have moments of insanity, time outs, fresh mouths, meltdowns, etc - BUT You'll ALSO have a great time and great memories.
