Work Pants
Hi ladies,
Its starting to be that time where my regular pants aren't fitting anymore. I normally wear NY&Co pants. My brother got me a gift card there for Christmas and I was wondering if you ladies thought I could get away with buying a bigger size in the pants I normally wear? I just entered by 14th week.
Thanks ladies!

Re: Work Pants
You could get away with your regular pants and a belly band for a few more weeks. With my first, I was able to stay in regular clothes until 20 weeks using the belly band.

Re: Work Pants
You could also see if they make those stretch knit pants... I know I have a pair from a few years ago that I am wearing now!

This is pretty much what I did. I also wore some larger shirts or button down shirts that covered my fly and kept it open but used a hair tie or rubber band to kinda keep it closed.

Re: Work Pants
A size bigger will help now & post baby. I bought 2-3 pairs of nice pants from gap & wore them through 2 pregnancies for work.

i really like the motherhood full panel, straight legged pants. they are long enough to wear with my heels and look like my regular work pants http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=91401Z10270&MasterCategory_Id=MC5

Buying up a size didn't work for me. I tried them and they were too big everywhere and falling off. I bit the bullet and bought maternity pants at 16 weeks; they lasted me the entire pregnancy so it wasn't a waste of money.

I'd go for full blown maternity. They are so comfy and you'll be able to use them your entire pregnancy.

Buying a size up didn't work for me. As soon as my pre-baby clothes started to get tight and uncomfortable, I opted for full blown maternity clothes. Best decision I ever made. I was so much more comfortable and have gotten my money worth out of them as I've worn them from 14 weeks and will wear them up to delivery!

My mom gave me her old pants a size up from mine. They bought me maybe 2 extra weeks, if that. Great since I didn't pay for them. But gad I paid for them I would have been pissed. Save your gift card for some clothes after baby, and go get maternity.

Save the GC!!!!
After the baby is born, your old clothes will NOT fit the way they used to. Things move and stretch. For me, I was the same weight but there was a lot that didn't fit the same. It will be nice to treat yourself to some new stuff a few months post baby.

Re: Work Pants
Good point!! I didn't think of that. I'll save the GC for after the baby is born to buy myself some new clothes. I think I'm going to try to make a trip to the mall on Saturday to get pants. I think I'll make it this week with what I have but its getting a little snug

I'm with her. You can buy a size up for only another couple weeks, where if you're buying something anyway, buy maternity so you can just have them later too? I got 3 pairs of the same pants, in different colors from Old navy that I love and they're cheap there if Old Navy is having a promotion. Worth it!

Just get maternity pants. It will make more sense in the long run. Destination Maternity has a great sale and free shipping for February. I just ordered online some tshirts, jeans, and dress pants.

I was not able to because I was losing weight everywhere else, so larger sizes would have looked ridiculous on me. I needed smaller sizes than if I had gone by their sizing information as other parts of my body were getting thinner.

At 14 weeks I'd wear maternity pants. You might as well get as much use out of them.
