what next?
DS has half day preschool and spends the rest of day at daycare at little village. He is getting speech and ot and doing great with his communication.
He has these outbursts at home where he gets wild hyper and chases the scared dog. He will pull his legs and im afraid if I am not in arms length he will hurt him. He doesn't seem to be able to stop when he is one of these moments. It scares me and it is so hard to deal with because nothing gets through to him.
Who do I go see? Developmental ped?

Re: what next?
Can you assess when this is going to happen and try to take proactive measures, rather than reacting to him doing it?
I know easier said than done.

This may sound horrible because I never yell at my daughter but when she is harassing my dog (he will try to bite her if provoked), no matter how many times I tell her "no" she doesn't listen but if I yell she will stop and cry but it will stop her so I've only done this a few times but she has been bothering the dog a lot less....so it is working. She was putting her toys on his back and pretend like they are getting a ride and she would grab his tail.

Must be something about kids and dogs. My son jumps on, pulls, hits, etc our dog. Been going on for over 6 months. As much as I tell him not to, he still does it. The dog will nip him if he makes him angry and that still does not stop him.

Thanks all. DS's preschool teacher helped. None of the things mentioned worked for us.
Teacher created a positive reinforcement system where I respond daily how he did by sending in one of two faces...sad or happy and he strives to get a reward for getting a happy face by being nice to dog the night before. It has been 3 days and it is working!!!
