What's the going rate for breast implants?
I've been toying with the idea of having my boobs done for years. I'm curious what the cost is to have them done. I'm about a 36B now. I'd like to be a full C. I'm debating a lift as well since they have never really been perky.

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
Between $8,000 - $10,000
You'll find docs that'll do it for as low as $4,000 or $5,000 and then you'll find ones that'll charge upwards of $15,000 but I think the first range is kind of a "norm" or "average"
You are also going to find, with some docs, that they'll give you a bit of a breakdown -- with the anesthesia and doc for that listed separately from the cost of the surgery. But, the total will be the same.
When looking, I'd recommend a doc that is BOARD CERTIFIED in Cosmetic Surgery. That's important. Some are even double board certified.
Hmm - meet with a lot of people. It's time consuming and a PITA but you'll start to be able to tell the really quality ones from the not-so-much by how their demeanor is, how they conduct themselves, how they run their offices, their office staff, etc. All of that stuff counts!
Start doing research one what kind of implants you would like, if you end up doing it. What kind of incision you are comfortable with. There are choices to make. Ask the docs questions, ask their opinions, etc. These are all personal choices. People will tell you one way is "right" and the other is "wrong" - it's really not a matter of that, this is your choice. I can tell you what I think is best but that's my opinion. Do your homework and go with your gut and feel free to choose what YOU want. :)
And I recommend a doc that supports what you want but is willing to give you fair and balanced answers that are not swayed by opinions.

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
I paid between 8-9 for a lift and implants. Hands down one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Most places will negotiate if you pay in full in cash. On the other hand, most places offer pretty reasonable financing rates through 3rd party companies. I used James Romanelli. He was excellent. So happy with results. I consulted with someone at Long Island plastic surgical group as well. They were cheaper and probably would have done a great job too. Go for it!

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
Thanks ladies. That's around what I was expecting.
I'm in Rockland County NY, so I'm not on LI. I've read of SO many people who recommend Dr. Romanelli so I'm going to look into him even though it would be a bit of a drive. I'm having trouble locating a surgeon around me that comes highly recommended.

You bring up a good point, I'm lucky, being on LI that I have access to such great doctors -- and not just cosmetic ones, but in general. Being that LIJ is right here and then NYC is within a reasonable drive. Sometimes I take it for granted but I have to remind myself that I'm fortunate to live in an area where you not only have great docs, you have so many you can take your pick.
GL!

I just looked it up and he's about an hour and 15 minutes from me. Definitely worth the consult at least. Its really not as far as I had thought.

Oh wow - not bad at all. It can take me that long to get into NYC sometimes and I go quite often.
That's worth it

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
I am not sure of the going rate but I do have an awesome plastic surgeon if you would like a recommendation.
She did my expansion after my bilateral mastectomy and then the permanent implants.
I am so happy with the results. I saw my breast surgeon this morning for a routine follow-up and he said that she did an incredible job...if not for my scars (which are fading), he would not know at all that they are implants. That almost made me cry.
Anyway, FM me if you would like her name. She is in the city and is affiliated with NYU.

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
How far is Cedar Grove, NJ to you? I used Dr. Anthony Berlet and he was great. People have a hard time believing I had them done. He has a very artistic eye. He is more pricey (I paid $8800 with no lift), but worth every cent!
-Look for board certified at least in plastics, double would be better. -How many anesthelogists does he use? Mine rotated between 2. Also 2 OR staffing. They knew how he worked and it was like a well oiled machine -Is it performed at a surgical center or out patient center at a hospital. -What fees do you incur if it goes over what it is allotted. -Ask how many of his patients have come back with capsular contraction while in practice.
I looked at a lot of before and afters and I knew what I didn't want and made sure to point that out at consults. -Forget about cup sizes and CC amounts...I have a friend who has less CC's than me and I look smaller. You loose 10% of volume when you go under the muscle so it isn't as big as it sounds. Everything is based on measurements. If you go to small it going to look like 2 tennis balls...so go by the chart and you have wiggle room up or down some millimeters.
Most importantly...if your instincts feel off, move on. I only saw my doctor and a friends. Something didn't sit right with my friends doctor. I researched him up and down when I came back home and I found a $20K malpractice suite against him. He was also cheaper. My friend is now having issues 4 years later.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! Cedar Grove is only 30 minutes from me, so its super convenient. I'm going to look into him.

I have no idea about the cost but in case you are not aware of this already..I saw this on Dr. Oz show couple of days ago that when you get implants, after 10-15 years, you have to get new ones.

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
Just something to keep in mind. Every 10 years the implants need to be replaced with new ones. It's not just one surgery and you're done for life.

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
The replacement time frame is based on each person. There are people that have them 20 years and are still in good condition. Then there are people that after 2-4 years have issues.

Re: What's the going rate for breast implants?
What pp said is true. While most people will have to replace them at some point, there are some women still walking a round with their original implants from the 80s. It's individualized.
