MFP or WW app?

I am hungry on the MFP app which put me at 1200 calories. I have cut out everything bad and am measuring so the food i AM eating is nutritious (less carbs more protein, no sugar, veggies etc). I heard on WW you can eat fat free and all fruits and veggies and they dont have to be tracked. Should I use the WW tracker instead?

WW tracker you have to pay for but, I did find that I was more successful on WW vs. MFP because I too, felt like I was too hungry counting calories on MFP vs. counting WW points. I did track everything though even if it was a vegetable for 0 points.

Re: MFP or WW app?

WW is not free it's like $20/month right now I think, but I did love it and was very successful on it. I liked the idea of points rather than calories, because I agree with the idea that not all calories are equal.

You should still track everything. A piece of fruit or veggie as a snack will be 0 pts, but if you are adding them to meals they do get included in the total points so you would want to be accurate.

Fat free stuff still will still have a point value, depending on what it is. I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Look into mynetdiarypro. It's a few dollars but much better than MFP. The caloric intake recommended on MFP is SO super low it's unhealthy for many in my opinion. I don't trust their calculations. I do my own and input into another app.

Thanks. I joined WW at work where its discounted and the incentive is i get reimbursed if I lose weight. I was hesitant to join since its Not more than 10 lbs that i want to lose. Im sure i could lose it without WW but why not have a tracker.

Even with the points today I only have 5 left after lunch! The can of tuna and granola were 5 points each!

Im looking forward to fruits and veggies when i am hungry though! I dont want to feel unsatisfied.

MFP or WW app?

Why not up you daily cals to 1250 or 1300? Im at 1300 and use MFP app for 2.5 months ..down 22 lbs.
No matter which app/food guide you choose you still have to log intake. Also eating fiber rich foods will help keep your hunger at bay.

Re: MFP or WW app?

I'm late in weighing in, but I like WW so much more than MyFitnessPal (I've used both).

It's hard to determine where to set the calories on MFP (I felt like there was too much discretion based on how much you want to lose, how active you think you are, etc.). WW, on the other hand, gives you your set point value, and that's it.

I also like that WW allows for some variation of caloric intake every day, in that they give you the 49 extra weekly points to use as you need. I find I do better if I vary my intake, so I can eat a bit more one day (if I go out to dinner or something), and then cut back to just the daily points the next day. It seems to work better with my body.

Also, I think people tend to assume straight calorie counting will be easier and more straightforward, but I actually find tracking points on WW to be easier. There are zero point items (fruits and most veggies, some condiments, etc.). It was tedious to have to count each slice of tomato on a sandwich or each dollop of mustard or something. Once you get the hang of WW, it's easy, plus the app on the phone has a lot of great tools (points calculator, bar code scanner).

I have done WW in the past and now I am currently back on it. I have also used the MFP app when not on WW. I honestly have lost more weight with WW then I ever did tracking on MFP. As PP said, I like that WW gives you a set point value for pretty much everything. I also love that you can now sync your Fitbit with the WW app so now it even tracks my Activity Points for me without me putting it in (although I never eat my activity points).

The fact that I know majority of Fruits and Veggies are Zero points is great too because I won't think twice about eating an apple or a banana as a snack vs a bag of chips or pretzels. MFP EVERYTHING had to be accounted for and it was very annoying to track every single little thing.
