So we had parent-teacher conferences for my twins today. The school is working on trying to get them summer and full day for fall (they go 1/2 day now). Both teachers recommended seeing a developmental ped. I already have the packet from Cohen's and was planning on dropping it off Friday. I understand they are booking late June/July at this point. The teachers recommended possibly considering somewhere else that can get us in sooner (I think they want to use the findings as part of the justification with the district).

I heard Cohen's was the best for Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics. I am torn on what to do. Anyone have any good recs for another one that could get us in sooner (we are in Queens, but Nassau is ok)? Or should I just stick it out and wait for the appt? DH thinks we should wait and go to Cohen's.

Being that they have gotten good reviews on here from other moms, I would stick it out and wait for Cohen's if you can.... When I took DS to a dev ped my regular ped gave me the name of a doctor at Cohen's and another dev ped at well. Cohen's had a much longer wait so we booked an appt with the other doctor, although she also had a few months wait as well (just not as long). Although she was nice I wasn't really a fan...but thats another story...

What you can do is try calling periodically to see if anyone had cancelled last minute. Thats how I got in with the dev ped I saw much earlier than my originally scheduled appointment. Good luck!

Thanks so much. Yes, my gut is telling me to wait so I think that's what I'll do. And good idea, I'll keep calling and checking for any cancellations.

I would go to the city or wait for Cohens (we have been with cohens dev ped since the beginning). There a handful of private practice folks in Nassau but if you look on here, they do not get great reviews.

Columbia, Sinai, etc though are all great as well but prob have just as long a wait time.
