turning three-transition workshop
Hello all, I am new to this forum. I am a mom of twin boys who are receiving EI services currently at home. I have had to fight for almost everything and it was well worth it. My boys are doing amazing! I recently signed up for the free transition workshop that is sponsored by the Suffolk County Department of Health in March. They just called me to cancel it stating I was the only mom who signed up. How can this be? Its a informational meeting for families who have a child who will turn three between July1, 2015 and December 31,2015. Anyone interested? They will keep it open for a while. Thanks!

I attended this last year. I will say you are not going to miss too much. They provide a basic guideline for transitioning. I'm in Sachem and the SD has been so easy to work with during the whole process. You should go after March 1 and register with your SD. you will have the option of transitioning at the start of the school year or the end of the year, based on DOB. I transitioned at the school year, because the SD was offering more services than EI.

Re: turning three-transition workshop
My son's preschool and our school district both did transition meetings. I wouldn't have bothered going to another one hosted by the county. Maybe many other parents feel the same way.
