Clear blue no smiley

I picked up the clear blue opk and began on the suggested day (day 18 for my 35 day cycles). Peed first thing every morning for 12 days, never got a smiley. Now waiting to see If I get af in a few days...Just wondering how common a no-smiley is from ladies who have btdt... Are peoples' opinions that I may have just not ovulated this month, or do you think the test doesn't always pick it up? I'm 36 if that is indicative of anything...

You may have ovulated sooner than day 18 or maybe your surge wasn't detected. I have about a 31 day cycle and typically o on day 17 or 18, so maybe start testing around day 14 until you can figure out when you normally. Last month I got my smiley the same day that temps showed I ovulated! You should start temping as well, if you aren't. Then you can get a better idea where your ovulation is in your cycle. I use fertility friend app to keep track of everything.

You may have ovulated before the day you started but I never once is my years of using got a smiley in the morning. Surges generally start later in the day. I always tested later afternoon or early evening.

Thanks for the advise ladies! I used the monitor when conceiving dd but I can't find where I put it and figured I'd go with the lower budget option this time around, I will try earlier next month,and to pee later on in the day,

I consistently have ovulated around day 17-18 but this month picked up a smiley on the evening of day 14 (and day 15) so it seems no matter how usual we think we are anomalies do happen. First time ever ovulating this early (I had a miscarriage 3 months ago so everything is a bit different now generally I.e my pms symptoms etc...but still seems that sometimes things just aren't as usual as we think)
