cooking vent
Am I the only one who can't stand the thought of cooking? I just can't even bring myself to make anything. I have no energy by the time I get home, certain smells bother me, I don't feel that hungry, etc. Last night I had take out but DH doesn't always want take out and he gets home way after me, so I want to prepare something. I am 7 weeks and I'm already like this. How am I going to make it to the end? just venting.

The smell thing will pass hopefully once you're im the second trimester. Same for energy. You can always make stuff with dh on Sunday for part of the week to make it easier

I'm with you! I'm not a big cooker to begin with and I need to know what I'm making beforehand I'm not good at just coming up with something right then and there. Lol plus it's hard bc my 2 year old son wants my attention when I get home so yeah I hate cooking! Lol.
The smells will pass and the exhaustion will too! And I also second the crock pot! I always say I'm gonna use it more but I always forget about it but it really is the easiest way to make dinner!

Crock pot and cook ahead and freezer meals are the way to go. I feel your pain. I'm rounding the home stretch of my pregnancy and have zero energy and appetite. We've basically living off takeout.

I've been living off pizza, bagels and frozen leftover meals. Occasionally I can boil pasta. I was able to make grilled cheese for dinner Sunday. I made something in the crock pot when my MS first started and I couldn't stand the smell of the house and the leftovers in the fridge. Then again, I couldn't stand the smell of the fridge and freezer period! I'm 11w today and I can at least open the fridge without gagging.

Re: cooking vent
Hopefully it will pass when you hit the 2nd tri. For now, I agree with the PP that make meals ahead on sunday for the week so you don't have to worry about cooking or prep. Chicken cutlets go a LOOONG way

Re: cooking vent
The first trimester was the worst for me between strong sense of smell, bad nausea all day and night, and very exhausted. The second was better and now that I'm in the third, I spend a lot more time in the kitchen making snacks/small meals and dinner. I always give myself 1 day a week and usually weekends that we do take out or go out. Just be patient with yourself and do what you can handle.

This is how I felt for the entire first trimester. Every smell made me ill. It went away around 14 weeks. Hang in there, it sucks :(

I feel your pain. I usually love to cook but I've had no desire to since I've been pregnant. I'm hoping this goes away soon!

aww, give yourself credit! in the beginning- forget that your energy is zapped, try finding anything appealing to eat.
just keep it simple. if all you can stomach is a salad, then make yourself a salad and maybe keep a few ready "made meals" that your dh can make himself.- kraft mac n cheese, ramen noodle soup, cold cuts for sandwiches, some crockpot meals. Sometimes delis sell heat and serve meals that they make on premises like lasagna, ziti etc.
for the next few weeks, everyone is just going to have to go with the flow. it's not ideal food but what are you going to do?

Re: cooking vent
I couldn't even look at food for the entire first trimester and most of the second.
I couldn't smell it. Nothing.
So yeah there was none of that. My husband at the time was on his own. And he understood, honestly. Because he could SEE my face turn green.
The other thing - so odd - I didn't want anyone to touch me during the first trimester
It made me cringe!!!
