What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
So eggs are not an option because all three kids have bad allergies to eggs. Right now it is either Cheerios, chez or whole wheat waffles. I tried making pancakes but they have a reaction if I put eggs in the batter and I have tried without eggs and they hate the texture. They will eat oatmeal but only as a last resort.
Then there is a snack after school. I am a loss. They come home starving and I am akways trying to push fruit but they don't want that. We can't do yogurt or hummus either.

What about peanut butter and apples or with crackers? You know DS1 is a very picky eater, but he does love PB. Ravioli and veggies mixed in (I do peas and carrots even though most of the time DS1 eats around them). They can eat that cold or hot Oatmeal with banana cut up in it. Those protein bars? In the organic section at Wegmans there's a ton of stuff. Mac and Cheese Apples and cheese grilled cheese nuggets pizza bagel bagel
DS1 has a limited list of what he'll eat, but he's getting sooo much better. He actually loves turkey lasagna now. Had it at my mom's last week. LOL DS2 eats whatever I put in front of him.

Re: What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
I have an egg allergy. I eat whole grain toast with earth balance spread, homemade oatmeal with fruit and syrup, whole grain cereal, yogurt. Lots of fruit.
Kids eat homemade eggless banana muffins, cinnamon bread toast, waffles (they do make egg free), i make egg free pancakes on weekends just dont add egg, cereal, fruit. They don't like eggs prob bec i dont eat them!
They dont come home til 5:30 so no snack at home. If we were home at 3 and they come home starving i would push small meals and not snacks as much.
Otherwise more fruit and raw veggies, cheese,

Re: What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
Breakfast:Cheerios with vanilla almond milk, oatmeal. He also eats frozen whole wheat pancakes that are maple flavored and french toast sticks but that has egg.
I usually pack two snacks for him. Snacks: grapes, strawberries, yoKids yogurt, gold fish, special K crisp, cereal bar, protein bar, graham crackers, baby bel cheese, crackers, pudding cup.
For home: I'll give toast with Nutella, mini bagel with cream cheese or peanut butter, fruit, carrots and ranch

My DS has an egg allergy (we did a food challenge in Sept and he can have baked eggs now). Whole foods has the best pancake mix and it tastes great without the egg. I add chocolate chips for my 4yr old DD. Smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, toast with cream cheese and jelly, egg free blueberry muffins http://artofdessert.blogspot.com/2010/01/egg-free-blueberry-muffins.html?m=1

Re: What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
I try to make sure they eat something with protein in them. So if they opt for cereal/waffle/oatmeal etc, they get a greek yogurt smoothie. I'll also put out string cheese, a cold cut roll-up, or hard-boiled eggs (which obviously won't work for you). We're peanut free, but if not, peanut butter and fruit would be a good bfast. I think having protein in some form for breakfast makes a huge difference.
Sometimes I'll make a big batch of muffins with quiona or beans in them and freeze and serve. I swear they taste pretty good, haha.

I'm no help. but here's our list of after school snacks. We really never drew a line before and after school. Your tummy doesn't care if its breakfast, lunch or dinner. It has no concept of time. So I will let her eat anything for breakfast if it puts something in her belly (not candy, cookies or chips tho). Since she's in school she'll just eat two tortillas for breakfast during school days then eat breakfast at school.
AJ loves : Tortillas Peanut Butter sandwiches Ham Sandwiches White Rice Pasta with butter garlic sauce (just make it and keep it in the fridge) Veggies - Carrots, cauliflower, broccoli Fruits - tons of them She also snacks on Salmon left overs if I have any Blueberry muffins Cinnamon Raisin Bagel with Cream Cheese Sharp cheddar cheese or string cheese
She doesn't like oatmeal I left off her egg options - Scrambled with sour cream or hard boiled

Re: What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
Weekdays the kids get cereal or premade waffles or oatmeal. On the weekends we make pancakes and French toast, but also have cereal too.
After school I offer Apples- they get an apple most days with other snacks from the list below. Pretzels Graham crackers Veggie straws occasionally Apple sauce Peanut butter on crackers Cheese sticks Portuguese rolls with butter As a super special treat which is less than once a month I will offer Nutella on graham crackers. Nuts Raisins Yogurt - this is usually the preferred choice Popcorn Fruit leather strips which are not made with high fructose corn syrup and are an actual mash up of fruit and have hidden veggies too. They are the target brand ones in the blue box. Sometimes I bake muffins.

We are constantly running late because the bus comes so early - but we do granola bars for breakfast a lot as a result. DD's go to snack is fruit. Other snacks include, pretzels, goldfish, nutella, applesauce, yogurt, and peanut butter sandwich crackers.

Re: What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
I wish I could say it was super healthy but during the week it is so crunched for time it is usually cereal or waffles for breakfast. Once in a while an english muffin or cinnamon or honey wheat toast.
After school my son is so hungry he basically eats a mini dinner at times. A slice of pizza, grilled cheese, bagel, leftovers etc. If he's not too hungry he may have string cheese, yogurt, cereal bar, fresh fruit, etc.

What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
Breakfast in our house is waffles or cereal. My son is on a Carnation Instant Breakfast kick and has that every morning instead of food.
After school, my high schooler eats a sandwich. She doesn't have a lunch period this year so she's hungry and its only 2pm when she gets home. My son will have a snack but is really picky so he'll l have cheese-its or a pop tart or *gasp* some chips.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I offer all that and they will eat most of it. I guess I was looking for some snacks that I didn't know about

Re: What do your kids eat for breakfast and after school snacks?
if your kids like oatmeal what about homemade oatmeal breakfast 'cookies' or bars? I don't know the recipe off the top of my head, but I'm made really good ones with all natural/healthy ingredients
.........which of course, I ate all alone b/c my husband and my boys refused to even smell them
