Pet Store Protest - this Sunday 3/15 and 3/21, 3/22 in Sayville!

I know a lot of you are as passionate as I am about this subject and wanted to share.

Here is the event page, please share on Facebook if you can. Representatives from Guardians of Rescue and Save A Pet will be there, organizing it.

Even though it says a lot of people are attending, in general people say they will but most don't show up on the day. Why not take a walk down Main Street and lend your support this weekend?

Sunday 3/15 11am to 4pm

Oh wow, I had no idea they were still planning to open. That space was empty for so long and the signs were down.
I just hope the protesting doesn't interfer with the other small businesses on Main St

Dori will be there and the last one I went to, she was very clear about how to stay within the law and not cause problems for anyone. Other than the pet store. Chat Icon

Are they planning to sell puppies? From what I have read they are simply selling supplies:

To The Good People in the Community of Sayville

Letter to the Editor

I am 64 years old and my husband is 65, we have been happily married for 43 years. Together we have raised three beautiful children in West Islip in a very loving home along with 6 dogs and 3 cats, 4 Salamanders, 2 Turtles and a Gold Fish. My husband and I have been so excited about being a part of the Sayville Community and we are truly looking forward to bringing something positive to the town.

Little Wonders refers in particular to 2 of our dogs that we have loved and mourned who in our hearts were always “Little Wonders.” We had a puppy named Klecko, a Dalmatian who lived to be 14 years old but died of kidney failure due to tainted dog food. We thought at the time we were feeding him the best food available. Although Klecko was not a therapy dog, I never would have survived the aftermath of 9/11 without him. He never left my side and he was the only reason I got out of bed and got up and kept going. He was my first “Little Wonder.”

After Klecko passed away, I felt lost until I stumbled upon a photo online of a 5 month old Doberman puppy. The puppy was in Mississippi with a chain around his neck that was heavier than he was. I knew then I had to save that puppy no matter what I had to do. After I rescued him, it was clear that he had been used as a “bait” dog. He had scars all over his head and face and ears and he had 3 toes on one paw because his little paw had been wired to a stake for so long that one toe could not grow. We named him “Rudy” because he never gave up. I believe in my heart that he never gave up because he knew there was someone out there that was coming for him; she just hadn’t found him yet. Rudy was the most loving of dogs. A “Little Wonder,” even after all that he suffered. He loved every person he met and he was a gentle, trustworthy dog and loved our grandchildren.

That is how we came to name our store. The name was picked with love and gratitude in remembrance of two very special puppies that we had the privilege to call our own.

Little Wonders Puppy Emporium is a boutique specializing in all things puppy. We will carry puppy clothes, puppy collars, puppy beds, puppy accessories and most importantly holistic & organic dog foods. Little Wonders will only sell dog foods made in the US including Hypo-Allergenic Dog foods.

Every type of food we sell will include an explanation as to why it’s good in the hope of educating the public on the benefits of feeding quality dog foods to their pets.

There will also be a Barkery for yummy treats for dogs and puppies, all made in the US.

We are very excited about our Organic Dog Grooming Spa where we will only use and sell organic and hypo-allergenic products.

Little Wonders will offer a select few of individually researched and carefully chosen Toy Breed Puppies; exceptional puppies from licensed breeders that have no violations. The puppies will be housed in innovative habitats, manufactured from the highest quality materials, to create healthy, warm and quiet environments.

Little Wonders will reach out to local shelters to help place dogs in loving homes in whatever capacity we can, from showcasing a few small dogs or puppies in our store, to creating or participating in Fundraising. We have many ideas that we believe our unique type of store can accomplish in this regard.

You can reach us at [email protected] or visit our Facebook page.

We look forward to working with the community.

Sincerely,

Sharon & Frank DiStefano

They wrote this letter and then posted on their Facebook page that they would be selling small breed puppies.

It actually says right in this description listed here that they will be selling puppies. Also, if you look at how the store is set up, it is clear there will be puppies right in the front window. I am very sad to see this store opening up in Sayville. I just wish they weren't going to sell puppies. It would be nice to have a pet store in town. Just not one that supports puppy mills.
