moms of girls ages 4-5 yo..

how do you style your DD's hair? Mine is very particular and only wants it a certain way. She does NOT want her hair up. And freaks out if I attempt to pull it back. I used to put a clip in the front to keep her her hair away from her face (which looked cute) but now she just wants a headband. Fine.. thing is it just looks so messy. Hair still gets in her hair and just looks sloppy. ugh I'm at a loss. I trimmed her hair about 2 months ago and the girl cut her front into long layers. I don't know how to style it anymore.

what do you ladies do?

My dd has medium to fine hair, and I prefer her to wear a clip to keep her hair out of her eyes. For a long time she refused to wear anything in her hair. Now at five, she wears headbands and clips and pony tails. I just brush it which in our house is not fun, no matter how clean and combed her hair is. It is still a mess in the morning.

DD refuses to let me do her hair and her hairs looks like a mess 99% of the time and honestly i just don't care.

when she does allow me to do it she just takes out any pony tail, hair clip, head band etc by the end of the day.

DD had no hair as an infant and she still barley has any. i have given her two haircuts ever and its only in hopes that maybe it will help it grow more. her hair barley reaches the top her shoulders.

yea she has medium wavy hair. I think I am going to change it up between clips and headbands. I wish my DD would wear a pony tail. She looks adorable but she refuses. My younger DD loves her hair up but she doesn't. oh well.

OMG my DD used to be the SAME way with not wanting her hair up.
I am talking if I so much as held it up for 2 seconds to try to get sunscreen on her back she would freak out!
If I pile it on top of her head to shampoo it in the bath she yells- I don't want it UP!

I swear I thought she had some kind of sensory disorder.

It wasn't until the last few months, I'd say from 4.5 on that she will occassionally allow me to do a pony tail, pig tails or a braid. I swear it started with Frozen because she will ask me for an Elsa or an Ana braid.

Her hair is super super fine and flat. When she wears it down we just brush it, and soemtimes she likes a headband.
But because it's so fine it tends to look messy very quickly.

I am glad she is finally letting me put it up- it will make the summer a lot easier.

My DD has very long hair with ringlet curls at the bottom. It is all one length - she's never had a haircut.

I usually put it half up, in a ponytail, in a ponytail braid, or a braid at the base of her neck.

Headbands and clips never stay in her hair so I don't even bother.

I hate putting AJ's hair up LOL

I mean I do awesome braids and stuff but my real reason is this.. if its pulled up and back it does two things:
-Keeps it out of food, glue and crud
-Reduces surface area for lice to grab on

But I had AJ in horrible pig tails and bad bangs since 1yr of age to get her hair out of her eyes. But she loves Cinderella and would wear her hair like that everyday if I could figure it out. Low ponytails are my compromise for mostly down hair while also keeping it out of her face.

AJ hates her hair dirty
She hates it in her eyes
*THAT* made it easier.

But if only she'd let me leave her hair down *sigh*

Good Luck.

My dd is 4 and has really long hair down to her butt. I do lots of different styles. Everyday we do something different.
Both my dd always ask for Elsa and Anna hair too

I'll do a small braid with just her hair up front
1/2 up 1/2 down
A very little bit up in the front either to the side or in the middle
Pig tails & pig tailed braids
Pony tails
Side ponies
Buns
One long braid in the back
French braid
All down and head bands

How about taking her to the store to pick out some new hair accessories maybe than she would be a bit more willing to let you do something with it.

My DD is 4 1/2 and is particular about her hair lately too. I used to put it up in a ponytail so it is out of her way but now she wants it down with just a hand band. I brush it in the morning which is a battle because it gets very knotted. I use the detangler spray which helps a bit. But by the end of the day she looks a mess too.

"the wet brush" gave me some sanity in brushing dd's long, thick hair.

She lets me do it any way really. Pig tails, braids, ponies (mostly), head bands, clips, we have it all lol.

But that brush is a life saver. It goes through her hair and does not catch knots.

I do hers in ponys, half up, buns etc... That is one thing I fight for. Her hair has to be brushed and done every day. More so because she has a lot of hair, its long, and I can't deal with the knots and food in it. Some days she just wants it down but I tell her no if she is going to school or to play somewhere.

I know pick your battles, but this is one I fight for :)

No advice my 4 year old dd always looks like a HOT mess

She'll wear a head band or a French braid but it always is messy after a few hours

This is pretty much everything we do with DD's hair also down to her butt. Nnshe hates when I do her hair and its a fight every single time.

Def try it. It was all screams and tears until this bruch. It's like magic. Of course I still get the crying and ouches if it's knotty from food or bedtime but it's so much better. I don't know what it is about this brush but it's changed our lives lol

Lara hates her hair in a pony tail. She has long pin straight hair. I dont know how she functions wearing it down all day lol considering i have a permanent ponytail on my head. Occasionally she will let me put a braid down one side.
