RMA Gardent City
Anyone have any feedback? Or use a particular dr there? Thinking of going there for a consult before I make a decision on a new practice and not sure who I might want to see.

RMA Gardent City
I saw Dr. Styn, very nice, caring but imo she did not come off as secure with her answers, but I only went for a consult and had one other conversation with her. It could have been an off day. The office is fast to call back. GC office was local, small and felt warm and inviting. I hear good things about them. Every procedure, but an IUI is done in NYC at the main office. You can monitor on LI. i will say, they will not let a pt go through with an ER if under a certain amount of eggs are produced, bc they feel the cost is too great to the pt

I have worked with RMA. My dr was base din White Plains (drs sons worked with my dad so went to him for consult) but my monitoring was based in Garden City- weekdays Weekends and procedures are done in NYC. Office was awesome. Ashley- red head secretary in front was great as was Olga the nurse and the woman who drew blood- forgot her name. I never dealt with a dr there though but office was well run. As far as going through an ER if under a certain amount of eggs are produced, that is NOT true. I am DOR and do not have many eggs made at all per cycle. Last round I only had two retrieved and one made it to Day 5. We took a chance and went with that one embryo and transferred. Unfortunately it was a BFN but they still did the cycle.

I am only stating what I was told by Dr Styn and she told me they dont go through with ER if under a certain numbers of eggs, interesting

I understand what you are saying but I did go through two IVF's with RMA- first time I had three eggs, second time I had two. So I'm not sure if it depends on the patient etc.

Re: RMA Gardent City
I'm a big fan of RMA, but have not used that specific office. IMO, the IVF lab in the city, where they will have you do retrieval, implant & anything on weekends & holidays, is huge, takes care of lots of people, is well run & has a high success rate. Of course, you have to like and trust the Dr who is going to coordinate your care.
It may vary by patient history what they would aim to retrieve. If someone with tons of follicles had a follicle become dominant during stimming, I could see them converting to an IUI to save unnecessary $ and effort. If someone typically only produces a few eggs no matter what, treatment course should be different.

My first dd was conceived with the help of RMA, but the Manhattan office. I loved my experience there and loved my dr. They were always professional, fast to call me back. Always had a dr do monitoring. My dr came in on his day offs to do my retrieval and transfer. Had his email and he always wrote back within a few hours. Even now when I conciebed my second dd naturally and I wasn't even his patient!

Re: RMA Gardent City
Both of my children were conceived thanks to RMA in NYC. I never went to the Garden City office, but I trust the drs there. It's a very big practice so you don't see your RE every time, but rather whoever is on call. However, if your RE is working when you go in, they will schedule you with him/her. Dr Grunfeld was my RE and for my 2nd, I saw him almost every visit, except 1 I think. And whenever I had concerns and wanted to speak with a dr instead of a nurse, he always called me back personally.

Re: RMA Gardent City
I just joined based on a friend reco and I am glad I stumbled upon this post...
My personal feelings are that the LI office has awful hours. I know a lot of other monitoring hours start at 7 AM for many places. This one opens at 8AM and I work in the city so that doesnt work for me. They only do IUI on Mon & Friday I believe or something useful like that.
I primarily go in the city. I dont love it at all. I feel like just a number and deal way too much with nurses. I understand the doctor has a lot of patients but there was something that recently just happened and if a doctor was involved instead the nurses the situation wouldve been different.
As this goes on and on you will see that you start to feel like your wasting time waiting each month. I was quickly diagnosed with "unexplained infertility" when a number of things that I've heard other people have checked were not checked by them. Most recently I had to get the nurse to go ask the doctor to give me a sono...
I feel like they dont do everything that they can to help you and they dont care so much about whether the iui's work because they just want to make their money with IVF. So, I wonder for all the people who have gotten pregnant with RMA have had IVF. Someone in my office says they are great. She had her baby with them (IVF of course). Honestly at this point if my last option was IVF I'd rather go someplace where you aren't just a number and can deal with a doctor more than you deal with nurses who just dont seem to really care and take that extra step for you.

I liked RMA and had DS because of their practice. I went to the one in the city. I liked that you saw a doctor at every visit. For me, the lab was the most important thing. Statistically for my issue, this lab produced the best results. I did do IVF, but I had no other choice as my DH has azoospermia and we were using his frozen sperm. We got two excellent quality embryos from it. At the first practice we used, we only got poor-fair embryos.

Not true, at all. I have 2 RMA babies, both conceived via IUI.

Glad to hear!!! You are the first iui success I've found from them. I go for my second cycle in a few wks. The first one didn't work possibly due to the clomid thinning my uterine lining. I'm on Femara now and my lining is back to back it was before the clomid. Hopefully I have good luck!

Even though their hours are 8-10, I showed up at 7:30 a.m. and they took me. I'm in a smaller, more private clinic now and drs. hours begin at 9 because he drops his daughter off at school. I was also at RS of NY where monitoring hours began at 6 am but sometimes I was there for over an hour, hour and a half!!! So every practice has their pros and cons. Even though I am not with RMA anymore, I loved them. Yes, they were a large facility but they are a well oiled machine and things always ran smoothly there. I never felt like I was a number there and the nurses I dealt with were very caring and thorough. But other may not feel that way and have a different opinion. Everyone has a different situation. RS of NY- went there for over a year and couldn't get out of there fast enough. so much went wrong in my case but others love it etc. I'm with Dr. T now and it is VERY inconvenient for me- city hours, city itself when I Work on Long Island, monitoring hours are not convenient- , however convenient has NOT gotten me pregnant so far. Had to try something different.

I used RMA but went to the Mt Kisco office. I had nothing but a great experience. I ended up doing IVF and my first attempt was successful.

I saw Dr, Mcavey in the garden city Rma office last week and loved her. She came from an experienced practice in Westchester. the office is very nice, she spent nearly an hour with me going over everything. shes really warm. going to do a full blood labs and xray. I highly recommend her. she was in no rush to do ivf. she said all monitoring could be done out on long island if needed.

i LOVED RMA and my RE, Dr. Grunfeld. Unfortunately, they don't accept my insurance now. I conceived my DD with them via IUI. This second time around i saw LI IVF and, personally, i felt like the past 8 months have been a waste of time.
