Bay Shore Best Buy Shooting

Saw it on the news this morning. That's my worst fear. Well one of them. Buckling dd into her car seat and getting car jacked and I couldn't get her out and unbuckled. So scary

Yup!

That poor family. Can't imagine the terror they were experiencing. Thank God he didn't hurt anyone. And one less POS on the street!

One of my fears too! Now that my kids are a little older, 4 and 2, I always lock them in the car while I put the stroller away then get in the van and close and lock all the doors while I am buckeling them in. then I climb over the seat into the drivers seat to avoid having to get back out. Scary!!!

What a nightmare! I feel awful for that family, so scary! I always worry about this type of thing when putting my kids in the car.

I will be curious to see if people get up in arms over this since the man was unarmed.

This is not directed AT you, as I know you are just kind of throwing the idea out there but in a general response to that idea -- I look at it as the criminal was armed... armed with a vehicle as his weapon. At that point, when put himself behind the wheel of a car, the officer ordered him out, and he went ahead and hit the gas. Now, the officer is in front of him at that point and that car becomes a deadly weapon. And that's not even considering the two children in the back helpless.

So, I believe he used deadly force because he was coming at him with the car. If we recall, a few months back, a fleeing suspect ran over a Suffolk PO, almost killing him and causing him to suffer a life-altering Traumatic Brain Injury. That officer (PO Guerrero) thank God lived and had to really fight for his life to get back on his feet at all. He will likely never be able to return to full duty but he's doing much better. So, these criminals use vehicles as weapons and it becomes so dangerous.

This is nuts. Sorry but if u break the law and endanger others while doing so then you need to be prepared to pay with your life. Its pretty simple if you don't want this to happen then don't break the law.

thank god those innocent children weren't hurt.

Re: Bay Shore Best Buy Shooting

Not to mention it looks like they tried using non deadly force, twice, with the tasers.
Apparently this jerk off was super human and the taser did nothing to stop him

Oh well, good riddance, trash. Saves the court systems time and money.

Prob drugs. Personally, I have only seen the taser not work on people who were on drugs -- usually crystal meth. It's like NOTHING even phases people when they are on that drug!

It is CRAZY to see!

Crazy!

The Vitamin shoppe in the same area was robbed at gun point a few days prior. I didn't hear any updates but I don't think they caught the guy.

This was my nephew that they killed. He was unarmed; he did not rob Best Buy, he stole from Best Buy. And that's a big difference. He was a 22 year old frail young man. Who was tased and then shot twice at point blank range in the abdomen, buy two grown police officers. TWO!!! and they will here from this family again"

Frail.
I love it.
I guess he was in a wheelchair too, just innocently minding his business when he tried to STEAL A CAR WITH CHILDREN IN IT.
If he was so 'frail', why didn't the taser take him down the first time? Or the second?
And um, if you get tased by a cop, I think that's a pretty good indication you should stop what you are doing.
It's almost laughable that they have the balls to even make a statement like that.

with all the things going on with unarmed suspects getting shot and killed these comments were bound to happen, right or wrong. hopefully it wont blow up like the other cases.

I never really worry about these things but I do sit here now and wonder how I would react. The story says the mother panicked and got out of the car, I wonder if I would do that also or stay in the car with them. either way its a scary situation and I try not to have the keys in the ignition until I am in the car ready to pull away.

they are the gun tasers right? I wonder if they actually hit him each time.

its kind of crazy to think he got tasered twice and was still able to continue move.

It was reported that one was successful in terms of attaching but didn't appear to have any effect on the criminal.

The second, according to the reports, did not attach.

Who knows if any of that is accurate as things get reported incorrectly.

But I have personally seen tasers being administered and the perp, who was later found to be under the influence of narcotics, was not in the LEAST bit disturbed by the taser. It is absolutely jaw-dropping to see. Crazy what drugs can do... gives people super-human strength and resilience. Chat Icon

People on drugs have an incredible ability to get through some crazy ish..it really is crazy and sad what drugs does to your body. Ever seen a drug addict high? Really crazy and sad

In any case I'm glad the cops and the mom and kids are OK. I frequent this area a lot because my parents don't live too far from here and it's scary to think something like this can happen during the evening when people are just shopping and minding their business.

Oh, I'm 100% with you, don't get me wrong! I don't think the officer did anything wrong at all. Thank God for this quick actions!

It's just as soon as I read that he was unarmed, I was thinking, I bet there are people who will turn this into "The poor guy, he was just trying to get a fix, he didn't even have a weapon" or something of that sort.
