33 week exhaustion

I think I've unofficially appointed myself the worst complainer on this entire board but seriously, I am struggling. I work full time with an 1hour+ commute each way and I am really having a difficult time functioning in the afternoons. By 2 p.m. everyday I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open.

My boss has allowed me to work 1 day a week from home to accommodate my now weekly appointments (I have GD) so I'm not in a position to ask to leave early on the days I am here.

I just don't know how I will do this for 6 more weeks.

Hang in there! I'm 16.5 weeks and I just nodded off at my desk. Every day at this time, I just crash!

I will be 32 weeks friday and today I am just absolutely exhausted. Im a nurse so I worked mon and tues. They are long days I leave my house at 6am and dont get home from picking up my son until 9pm. My ds is 20 months and full of energy. I feel like a slug next to him.

Just think about how prepared you'll be for the sleep deprivation once the baby arrives!

Seriously, I feel your pain. 30 weeks with a 1.5 hour commute each way. Plus a toddler at home to run after. You'll make it through, though! It's worth it in the end.

Re: 33 week exhaustion

STOP WORKING NOW! I hate to be so dramatic, but I am 100% certain that had I taken off from work when I started feeling the way you are describing, I would NOT have developed such severe hypertension and would have been able to carry my son for at least a few weeks longer. I ended up being admitted to the hospital at 35.3, began inductions, and 3 days later delivered him via emergency c-section. He's perfect and amazing and healthy now, but he spent 5 days in NICU and if I could do it again, the second I started feeling that way, I would have said, see ya'.

At the very least, take advantage of the working from home and see if you can do it more days.

Complain away!! We all have sympathy!

I'm 31 weeks (with twins) and ready to stop working. Chat Icon
I see my OB once a week and a MFM high risk dr. once a week and STILL can barely make it in. The commute is the killer! Like you, I have an hr commute each way which involves many subways staircases and a far walk from the train to my office and house.

Def. see if you can work from home as much as possible if you are feeling like you are pushing yourself too far.

I wish I could stop working but I get such a limited maternity leave that I don't want to sacrifice any time with the baby. Chat Icon

Re: 33 week exhaustion

I stopped being exhausted around 14 weeks but it came back at about 20 weeks. I doze in the afternoon and tske a 15/20 min nap after dinner. To stay awake at wrk I eat snacks.
