Internet Cheapies- updated
Update: BFN. The tests were from a recalled batch that several other women were getting false positives on. Threw out all of my cheapies and got a refund. Such a mind f*ck.
semi-regular posting in hiding. When I got my last AF, hubby and I decided to stop charting, using opks and to throw caution to the wind. We have a history of very early chemicals, so we made the agreement to spend the first 6 months of the year trying on our own before going back to the doctor, but obviously would call the doctor immediately if we got pregnant on our own. First day of AF was on 12/31- haven't had anything other than slight spotting since then.
I took a test this morning on an internet test using fmu, and to my surprise, a light second line appeared almost immediately. It was light, but noticeable. I took another one 2 hours later before leaving for work and that was negative.
Are these tests reliable? And is it possible to have a faulty test? I have been searching faulty internet pregnancy tests online all morning, and they seem pretty common, especially with the brand I purchased.

Re: Internet Cheapies
From everything I've read, false negatives are fairly common. False positives, not so much. I'd run to the drug store and get a better test and try it out! Good luck!!!

Re: Internet Cheapies
If you do a search on this site of internet cheapies you would fine a lot of women who have tested positive only to get a BFN later. I hate them personally. Sometimes it's worth the extra $$ and putting it towards a FRER. It picks up HCG as low as 6.

I have cheap ones and they seem to work ok, they have NEVER said I was pregnant when I wasn't. I would just confirm with a better brand like FRER. My only thought is that your first morning sample was more concentrated so you got a light line and later in the day it was more dilute so it didn't show up. Good luck! Hoping FRER is a BFP for you.

Really?! Everything I've read (off this site) and from friend's experiences said the opposite. I use the cheapies, but I also have a few digital clear blue easy tests to verify in case I get that BFP!

You got a light line the first time you tested? Its very possible the second test just didn't have enough wait time. You should wait 4 hours before taking a second test. I would test again and if you are still unsure, use a digital.
Good luck!

Re: Internet Cheapies
I was a fan of the internet cheapies, I felt they were more sensitive.. in fact I got my BFP on an IC first before it showed up on a FRER.

Re: Internet Cheapies- updated
I tested + on a wonfo that was apparently recalled but only 2 sites mentioned that batch # I had...I ran out and bought a digital and came back postiive, but unfortunatly ended as a chemical. But thats not the case for everyone...buy a digial or FRER!
