Endometriosis ?? Kofinas ???

went to dr. Kofinas for a second opinion. They did a sono and think I have endometriosis. Went to Dr. Z for a year and the word" endometriosis" was never mentioned. does it affect IVF ??? I had 3 failed IVF and am upset this wasn't tested sooner.

The only way to diagnose Endometriosis is with surgery. My Dr. assumed that is what I had but I have every symptom in the book. Sorry you are going through this...did they suggest surgery?

Yes they suggested surgery ? I was told by other dr that endometriosis doesn't affect IVF results ? Is this true ??

I did not know I had severe endo until my c-section. I got pregnant on my third IVF and have a healthy three year old dd. good luck!!!!

Endo can affect egg quality. I have it on my ovaries and is most likely a big part of my issue. We only found it when I had my DS via C Section.

I know Dr. Kofinas has high tech machines; more so than your standard RE; but I had no idea it was able to detect Endo. I also only thought it was thru surgery.

When I had and still do have Unexplained IF; the one and only DR that I saw out of quite a few that suggested a lap was Dr. Rosenfeld At North Shore; since nothing else was making sense. He did a lap on me in 2011 and found mild endo. But apparently; it didnt mean much; b/c I still didnt get PG.

A couple years ago, I had surgery with Dr. Kofinas to remove endo, a large fibroid and cysts (all this crap that was causing me pain). He said he suspected I had endo because of my symptoms, an HSG test that showed blocked tube on that side and when he pressed on the area. He did a sono (and I have had them many times before) but he said you can't see it with sono.

He said there is a small possibility I could get pregnant afterwards so he didn't push IVF unless we wanted to speed things up.

I did a lot of research and I could have just gone straight to IVF bc we also have MF but needed to have the surgery since I was in a lot of pain for years and it was getting worse. The surgery helped the pain, but we have not gotten pregnant since and are looking to start IVF now (I waited longer than i wanted bc of life...).

He was highly recommended to me by acquaintances in the medical profession and other people who had the surgery so I was comfortable using him. He explained the procedure and answered all my questions. It was such a change from doctors telling me "just take advil" for years.

I did the surgery and question whether I really needed it. I have had 4 embryo transfers since with 2 miscarriages. What is becoming clear to me is the transfer technique of the doctor is critical, the lab's care of the embryos is critical and your vitamin D and thyroid levels have to be monitored carefully with Vit D over 30 at a minimum.

Honestly I would be really careful with Kofinas. With all his "high tech" machines, he misdiagnosed an atopic pregnancy. He put me through surgery to remove a "second" baby that was supposedly stuck in a tube. Turns out there was only one real healthy baby in there! He could have made me loose my pregnancy! No remorse! Be careful please please please get another opinion! Wishing you all the best.
