Hey! I'm doing good! Every week is a milestone! I met Dr. Rafael for the first time last week and thought he was awesome!! They are all really amazing. I feel so confident and comfortable with all of the doctors there. My next appt. is Friday too!! I'll be there at 1:30!

Hi ladies! I'm so glad to hear that you are happy with the high-risk doctors at Winthrop..I have my first appointment with Dr. Muscat next Wednesday. I'm meeting with her based on my RE's recommendation, I had a late loss due to an incompetent cervix in 2013 and I'm hoping this practice will be the one to keep me pregnant!

She's amazing! I felt so comfortable with her. She has a way of explaining sometimes scary things without making you feel like you are doomed. Lots of luck! I hope you have a good experience and they help you keep that baby cooking!

This practice is so amazing!! You will be in good hands- I also feel reassured knowing the nicu at Winthrop is fantastic (I had a friend deliver prematurely at 30 weeks and her baby is now thriving) every Dr of the maternal fetal medicine team I've met so far has been so reassuring and helpful- especially since my current condition is so rare- scary for me but they never rush me, they answer my hundreds of questions and are so so supportive!! Wishing you luck!
Let's continue to update each other! How far along is everyone here?

I didn't know how the NICU at Winthrop was, I'm happy to hear that it's good! I'm only 7 weeks 3 days so I still have a long way to go!

YES! Most def. agree with you when you say they never rush you. My time in the actual exam room is never any less than 2 hrs. The nurses/techs come in..do their sonos. Check EVERYTHING and then the Dr. comes in, repeats it and then talks with us about what's going on.
I'm 27 weeks

Yeah, they're so amazing! I don't know how they have time for us all :) (especially without waiting crazy hours in the waiting room!). "HopingforaRainbow"- so you know, Dr Chavez is the chief of MFM and all the rest of the doctors check in with him about our cases- you'll probably meet him some time or another! I have a strange condition that they're all fascinated with so they consult back and forth constantly about me :/ Ohy! Wishing you luck on this journey!

How are the High-Risk Winthrop mommies doing?
25 week u/s today showed baby is starting to push the band to the side, it was kinda sitting on it... it helps that baby is measuring big, i guess :) doctors feel reassured that baby's been keeping its distance till now.. so i'm hoping it stays cornered and doesn't cause any trouble! my partial chorion-amniotic separation is also being pushed to the side, which is super. I am hoping for continued optimistic results. meanwhile, the MFM approved of my coming 1x/weekly to check on baby and my insurance isn't causing any issues.. so we'll be keeping an eye out!
How was your appt. this afternoon, "Mrs. H."?

I have my first appointment with Dr. Kinzler on Tuesday. I'll be almost 16 weeks then. They were having trouble getting my records from my RE's office so I've been talking to Ann Marie a lot and she's really easy to get ahold of and very helpful so far.
They told me that I'm going to have a "cervical length sono" - what the heck is that?

@summermom- don't worry the cervical length sono is no big deal at all. it's basically a standard u/s where they insert the doppler inside and keep it in for 5 minutes just to measure cervical length (see if it shortens at all- they may press down on your abdomen to mimic a contraction and see how your cervix responds).. It's really no biggie! You watch your baby on the screen the whole time, anyway so it's nice and distracting! goodluck! :)

Glad you'll be going weekly... Even though it's not the best circumstances, it will put your Mind at ease. You'll get to know all the Drs and techs.
I had the best appt. yet! The fact that I'm less than a week from the third trimester is huge! Dr. Chavez said they could deliver me as early as 33-34 weeks if necessary but no later than 36 weeks So I might not be a May Mommy after all!

Thanks! Good to know. I've been having ultrasounds every 2 weeks but they're usually quick - just checking the baby's size and the heartbeat. I will love seeing it move around for a good long time like that!

Re: How are the High-Risk Winthrop mommies doing?
That's a huge milestone, congrats!! My good friend was actually under Dr. Chavez's care during her very high-risk pregnancy- she was admitted for pre-term labor at 26 weeks they held it off until her water eventually broke at 30 weeks- her baby is about to turn 1 and is doing fantastic!
28 weeks is a big milestone!! I'm 2 weeks behind you :) Let me know how it feels!

Re: How are the High-Risk Winthrop mommies doing?
I am passed the 27 weeks mark and had a good growth sono yesterday - measuring 2lbs 7 ounces - hooray!
I spilled the beans ladies - at my appointment with Dr. Muscat - I told her about this thread. (Always nice to read something pleasant when you are having a bad day at work, I thought.)

That's so great @MK2010! 28 weeks will be here so soon- is your baby measuring big? My LO measured 2 lbs at my 25 week growth check and Dr said that's a little big- not that I mind at all esp. since I may deliver early..
Have you taken your GD glucose test, yet?

I had my first appointment there this week. I liked everyone I met, and I loved the TV hanging on the wall for me to watch the sono comfortably. Nice touch!
Even better, baby is looking great. That cervical length sono was fine, but my OB is having me repeat it at 18w and 20w.

You're right- Dr. Muscat is fantastic! So glad I got to meet her, as I've only been seeing Dr. Chavez and Dr Rafael to this point.. We may start to space out my visits to every 2 weeks instead of weekly, as things are looking more stable and as I enter 3rd tri. Yay! :)

Re: How are the High-Risk Winthrop mommies doing?
Hi Ladies.
I just happened to log on to this room today -- I used to post here alot and now I read threads here and there for this VERY reason - to share advice as I know how great this board can be.
You are all in WONDERFUL hands. Dr. Chavez, Dr. Kinzler, Dr. Muscat, Dr. Sicuranza, Dr. Raphel and all the nurses and techs are the absolute best. They are all so patient, throrough and have a wonderful bed side manner.
I was under their care along with my OB across the way from 10 weeks until I delivered by DD at 39 weeks. They also helped my best friend with a very, very high risk situation.

Had a growth sono Friday: baby A- 2 lbs 13 oz and Baby B- 2 lbs 8oz I'm sooo happy! They are both doing great. dr. Chavez wants me to get to 34 weeks and he'll be happy. That's the goal! I'm 28w 3d.

How's everyone doing now? Had a growth scan yesterday and my almost 28 week old is already 3 lbs 1 oz.. BIG! Took the glucose test in AM, hope I don't fail and have to go back for the 3 hr, or worse be dx with GD. Drs were actually pleased to see baby bigger (obv. than smaller since I had a chance IUGR). DH & I are going to Punta Cana for the weekend, with Dr permission of course- so excited. Need a vaca. Leaving our 2 yo at home with Grandma and looking forward to relaxing..
Hope the rest of you Mommies are doing well!
