Best Delivery hosp- Winthrop, North Shore LIJ or South Nass??

I am 2 months pregnant. I am currently seeing Dr. Robert Nadel in Garden City and I think he delivers at Winthrop but I would consider changing doctors to deliver at the best hospital. I am trying to decide between- Winthrop, North Shore LIJ and South Nassau. Can you give me your experience at any of these hospitals? How were the nurses, room and did you have to share a room/bathroom? Thanks!!

I have no knowledge at all of s Nassau.

I've heard good things about Winthrop. If I didn't choose lij I might have gone there.

I delivered at nslij in nhp in 2013 and will again this year. I had a good experience there. I had a private room and bathroom, it was very nice. I thought the nurses were pleasant and knowledgeable. No complaints.

I delivered at S Nassau a little over 7 months ago. All the rooms are private with your own bathroom. I really liked all my post partum nurses except one night nurse. My DS was in the nicu and the nurses there were great too, but hopefully you won't have that experience. The l&d nurses were great. The food is terrible but you can have people bring you in outside food.

I gave birth in Winthrop thats where my drs are. The delivery nurses were fantastic!! The maternity was very outdated and shared rooms. The showers were down the hall. However, while its nice to have your own room which i had as luck of the draw. I find it more important for the best nicu and care. I know i was in good hands and so was
my baby should somethinGod forbid went wrong.

I delivered at North Shore in January and had a wonderful experience. All of my nurses were amazing, my room was private and large (with a huge bathroom), and the food was actually pretty good lol.

I delivered at south nassau 2 months ago. The big private rooms with private bathrooms were great. I would have hated sharing a room, especially a bathroom post partum, not to mention dealing with a roommates visitors. The nurses and lactation consultants were all excellent. The food was bad though, that's my only negative.

I delivered at North Shore Manhasset 2 years ago and I will again in September. We had a great experience there... great nurses, great room and decent food. I do not think that there is a such thing as the best hospital. Like many things dealing with babies (day care nanny v day care, etc) there is no one best. To me it is the best for you. Things to consider when determining which is the best to you would be things such as level of NICU, etc.

I delivered at Winthrop in 2012 and will be delivering there this summer again. I did consider switching at some point to deliver at NS or LIJ but in the end I decided not to switch from my doctor (I also see Nadel but the one in Mineola). I will say the hospital rooms are not as nice as LIJ (my cousin delivered there and it was like a hotel room) but I figure I am only there 2 days and I know they have a great NICU if need be.

I'll be delivering at LIJ this May - my OB/GYN is affilated and I am happy with their reputation (and newly updated womens health center with private rooms and all the bangs and whistles). That said, my best girlfriend had two children at Winthrop (2014 and 2012) - she also sees Nadel. She described the care as top notch and had no complaints whatsoever. Winthrop has a great reputation for maternity, just as LIJ does. I wouldn't switch MDs if you like him.....I don't know about S Nassau, but you can't go wrong with LIJ or Winthrop

I delivered at Winthrop in 2013 and will again this summer. While their maternity ward is not as fancy as the other hospitals, I would not change. I love my dr, the staff was amazing and they have one great dr's in the hospital and one of the best NICUs around, should it be needed. A pirvate bathroom would be great (as I did not enjoy using the shower down the hall esp after a c-section), but the care the baby and I get are most important. While S Nassau is very nice, I only chose a dr years ago, before I was even ready to have kids, that was winthrop or NSLIJ. It really is only a few days.
