Depends Underwear??
I was looking on another message board and someone had suggested wearing depends undies instead of pads after giving birth. I was just wondering if anyone else had done this? It makes sense, but I would still think you would wear a pad so you're not sitting in blood all day??
thoughts?

This exactly but I know what you Meagan. I actually prefer the disposable panties that most hospitals give you. Those with a pad has always worked for me postpartum. I've never done the depends.

Re: Depends Underwear??
My BF's sister had a c-section 7 weeks ago and wore depends after, she said they were the most comfortable compared to wearing reg underwear with where the incision was

Depends Underwear??
I wore depends silhouettes for the first 5 days or so with a chuck inside. I will be doing it again. Comfy and no worries about blood getting on my actual undies. Stonybrook doesn't give mesh underwear. The nurses thought it was a great idea!

Depends Underwear??
I never thought about using depends but that is a genius idea! I think I will be picking them up for the hospital stay.
Come to think of it, these last few weeks have been annoying and I know it will only get worse - I should start using them in my every day life. LOL
Anyone else have a leaking problem?

Only every time I cough! I wear a pad all day every day bc I kept peeing myself when coughing. So fun!

Re: Depends Underwear??
I made dh (that's when you know it's true love-lol) pick me up a small package of them after a friend suggested them to me. Right after my 1st delivery, they wheeled me to my room after delivery, I stood up & a waterfall of blood fell out. The mesh undies & long skinny pad was useless to me. DH ran out & picked depends up for the next day & I stuck a pad in there too. I was so much more comfortable moving around that way. I used them for 4 or 5 days.

Ugh... me!!! I went to my 24 week appointment and mentioned to the doc that my underwear is in a pretty constant state of DAMP, even with a panty liner. I haven't had any gushes, and there isn't any mucus to speak of. I can't see anything at all on the underwear at all. They are just damp. She said it could be discharge, or, i could just be leaking a little bit of urine. Awesome! I went out and got the Poise liners and that seems to be helping a lot more so than the regular panty liners. As my first 2 kids were over 9 pounds, I was warned this was a distinct possibility, but I didn't think it would happen so soon!

Re: Depends Underwear??
Yes, a friend of mine who recently gave birth gave me a bag of the Always Discreet undies because she said she used them and they were so comfy and she didn't have to worry about getting underwear. I am going to give them a try

Re: Depends Underwear??
I briefly thought about this when I had #1 but didn't go through with it. I'm glad I didn't because the bleeding was never bad enough for me (I had vaginal births both times) to need anything more than a menstrual pad. I bought the big overnight ones and that was more than enough.
I would recommend buying cheapie Hanes (or whatever) granny panties.

It was definitely helpful after my vaginal birth, especially the first 2-3 days.
