What does your 2 year old wear in the pool?

Thinking ahead to summer travel, DS will be turning 2 in May... what would he wear in a big pool? I assume we'd be holding him the whole time? How does this work?

I bought the fabric covered Speedo brand swimmies. My DD did very well with them at that age.

ETA: We did not hold her the entire time and she learned quickly to kick her feet and move her arms. Of course we were within an arm's reach of her at all times.

DD was too small at 2, but if your DS is at least the weight for the puddle jumper it is AMAZING
They should be 30 lbs to wear it though

We bought DS the puddle jumper last summer. He was 2.5. He is tiny but it still fit him and he loved it.

At 2 & a couple months, DD wore swimmies around her arms.

She hated the puddle jumpers.

Try out different stuff!

We used the puddle jumper, although he was not quite big enough for it. We just kept him super close to us.

Dd used a puddle jumper all of last summer (she was still 1 - turned 2 in Oct) and it worked out great. After a while she was able to float in the pool with the puddle jumper on and keep her face up out of the water without me having to hold her. I would stay right near her of course, but it was nice not having to hold her the whole time, and she felt like she was really swimming.

This summer DD will be turning two and she likely won't wear anything besides her swim diaper and bathing suit. She had one of those float toys and I will likely use that when allowed.

when DS was that age, he used the Puddle Jumper. it was GREAT!! kept him up, gave him confidence to swim around without me holding him (i was right next to him, obviously!!) now he's 4 and uses one thats like a vest thing, so his arms are more free to actually swim. I can take out layers of the foam as he gets better. when he's at swim lessons they have him going without anything... but that makes me too nervous!

I think DD wasn't 30lbs by than so I got her a vest that was for 0-50lbs used that eventually got her a puddle jumper cause she wasn't a huge fan of the vest. I am pretty sure I put it on her when she was just shy of 30lbs while I didn't hold her the whole time I was close by at that age

I put DD in a vest, and held her at that age. DH and I took turns but she was mostly in my arms. She was really not a big fan of th vest, because of the strap that comes between the legs. Now that she's a little over 30 lbs, its all about the puddle jumper.

Puddle jumper. My twins were 20 lbs and 20m when we started using it. I know it is rated for a PFD for 30 lbs, but we were not using it on a boat. they swam beautifully in it is just a few tries

We used it last summer and DD was maybe 25 pounds or so. She's a scaredy cat in the pool but it held her up on the rare occasion she let go of us.

puddle jumper. DS started using it a 1, at that point was not really ready for it but by 15-16 months last summer he was using it our pool like a champ. He is on the bigger side, but was definitely doing great, jumping in the pool with it and swimming around without us assisting before 18 months with it on (obviously we were in pool and right next to him!)
