No heartbeat!

After over a year of trying and a successful IUI today at my 8 week appointment there was no more heartbeat. I'm truly devastated and at a loss for words. Doctor is recommending a D&C. He said then they may obtain a reason the miscarriage occurred.
Can you please give me your advise and tell me what I should expect in the coming weeks.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't have a D&C, so I can't let you know what to expect in that regard. But, just know we are all here for you.

I'm so sorry!!! I had the same thing happen to me at my 16 week appointment back in November. I would go for the d&c...I miscarried naturally before my scheduled d&c and I would never want to go through it again. Luckily you should only have to wait 1 cycle before trying again. I ended up waiting 2 cycles because I didn't want to go back to my RE during holidays.

Re: No heartbeat!

First of all, I am so, so sorry. The idea of a D and C feels scary but it is over and done with quickly. You wake up and feel fine for the most part. Maybe a little bleeding and cramping at most. I did get answers with my second MC that assured me it was a genetic "fluke" I could do nothing to control. It helped bring some closure. Cry and let yourself feel even when you don't want to. Try to do little things for yourself. Most importantly, lean on people. It's so easy to isolate yourself. You always have us here, these ladies helped me a lot. Lots of love and prayers to you.. Thank you all so much! I scheduled the D&C. It's on Wednesday. I feel like I'm living a nightmare. Finally got my miracle and then poof it's gone. I truly feel like a piece of my heart is missing. I know there's a reason for this just hard to see any positive side to it now.

so sorry :( didn't have a d&c, but I know exactly how you feel. We we planning to announce on easter and got our hopes up really high, and now we are trying again.. The first week or so is pretty hard, but it's gotten better for sure. It's out of our hands and there's no controlling it, so I guess knowing that there was nothing we could have done to fix it kind of helped

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a D&C and they did testing to see what caused it. Did the results give me closure? Yes and no.

Thanks girls!
I had the D&C on March 11th. The results showed a completely normal pregnancy. So unexplained.
I'm waiting on my HCG level to deplete (hopefully today) and will then be tested for "multiple miscarriages" even though this was my first. I'm hoping for an answer but also feel like maybe knowing it was a fluke is good too because it may not happen again. Feels like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.

So sorry :( I had the same thing-- results after the D&C were normal, and then I recently had the test for recurrent miscarriage (even though I only had 1) and all of those tests came back normal too. Very hard not to have an explanation.....I hope that regardless of what happens i.e. you get an answer or it remains unanswered, that the next one is successful! Best of luck.
